With regards to the Arctic Monkeys, if they're doing a load of European festivals it would be logical to assume that they'll be doing a UK one and with T and IOW ruled out and V unlikely (due to having played in 2011) then Glastonbury and R&L are all that's left. They've been put down as an R for both, so it looks like one or t'other.

Jesus people go on about music being shit these days but here you have people raving about Stereophonics

I think Arctic Monkeys would more sense for Glasto at the moment (6 years, got festival dates the weekend either side of it and confirmed dates only up to July so far..)

I don't think there's anything that particulalrly makes them likely and nothing to rule them out. Just apathy and disinterest. I don't think many people give a fuck about them any more, but then again I though that about Eminem.

What do people think about Linkin Park being a potential headliner? 2013 will be ten years since they last played, they haven't been to the UK for two years or so and have released more albums with more hits in their back catalogue. Would go nicely alongside eminem, but which day would they fit in?

Linkin Park aren't rap metal any more, haven't been for a long time. They're more electronic alt-rock these days, probably much better suited to the modern Reading crowd. They sold out arenas on their last tour, multiple nights at some venues I think. Living Things got to #1 in the charts, A Thousand Suns went to #2. Both are Gold-certified.

15th most listened-to rock band in the UK this week, ahead of The Strokes, Blur, Oasis, Biffy Clyro, The White Stripes, Rage Against The Machine, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Pearl Jam... they're also pretty overdue for a return to Reading.

Don't know how people have reached the conclusion that nobody cares about them or that they wouldn't draw.

    • Yeah, that was always a possibility.   We're obviously obsessed with Glastonbury and so assumptions are made when something like that is said. It's unlikely Madonna feels quite as strongly about the festival and so her being excited about something big in the UK next year (or however she phrased it) should really be taken as carrying a lot more possibilities.
    • MGK to headline anyone?
    • Fantastic news.  Not got our settlement car park pass yet, but this gives me hope that it will arrive soon
    • I think they mentioned it in one and interview that the concept of Passport is one thing that differentiates the Sziget from other festival and encourages to explore the site outside music stuff. I doubt they will get rid of it, they might just be late, like they are with everything else.
