I don't actually have that many opinions on festivals for the simple fact I haven't been to that many in my life, as I'm not ashamed to admit, nor does going to so few make my opinions (and concerns) any less valid than somebody who has been to a lot. The only festivals I have opinions of are Leeds and Bestival because I've been to them; the ones I have preconceptions about are Glastonbury, Latitude and V because they're the only others I've ever realistically considered going to and asked about. Generally I have no problems with how festivals come across to me; it's the type of people usually that I encounter at them or if I'm considering going (particularly in Glastonbury's case), the type of attitude I get back when I ask questions perceived as negative. Would I be open-minded to the possibility of the festivals I have reservations about changing my preconceptions? Of course, and that's what's important, but seeing as my mind is already made up with Bestival and potentially End of the Road in 2012, also completely irrelevant, much like everything I've said about Latitude has been these past few hours.

No, but whenever I speak to people who have gone to Latitude, the general feeling I get is that it's aimed towards people who are unable to form their own opinions of what sort of music they actually like and just like whatever it is that the general consensus of critics tell them to listen to. Hence the 'Pitchforkiness' of it.

Personally, I like proper '90s techno, Madchester and post-rock and after 10 years of festival-going think that I know the music I love and hate. I think your statement is a little sweeping. Not all of us read NME. I've been to Latitude for the last 7 years. It has, in my opinion, got the best atmosphere of the medium sized festivals and has a very broad range of music - for the more open minded.

Whether you like them or not, you wouldn't be able to watch Metronomy at the top of a hill (crows nest) in front of around 50 people on a Saturday afternoon, at any other festival anywhere. Literally a couple of amps , you cold touch them if you wanted. Nowhere else could you do that. No bloody way

Haha! True! I'm not a Glasto-snob or anything, my comment was a little tongue-in-cheek. I was Reading/Leeds/TITP through and through until Glastonbury. Changed my life unquestionably.

That's why I've chosen Bestival this year. From what some people are saying, and the photos and areas etc, I'm hoping for a little Glasto-vibe to fill the void!

Stop talking about Glastonbury, I've never been :'( hold me

Anyway.. When's the next announcement? Someone say tomorrow??!

Also, +1,000,000 on that suggestion, Dave. Seeing them April 2nd, can't wait.

Oh at the Firebug? I was debating whether or not to go and see that. I might check it out. It's a toss up between them on the 2nd or Flipper at The Rescue Rooms on the 6th.

What's parking like around the Firebug?

    • Well worth watching and the 2 Punisher series can be viewed alone, season 1 being the better one but both pretty good.   Bernthal's Frank Castle first showed up in Daredevil in a couple of episodes before the standalone Netflix Punisher series then popped up again in Daredevil: Born Again before this years One Last Kill and Spider-Man. To be honest all those old Marvel Netflix shows from the Defenders universe are worth a watch. I recently went through them all in order and really enjoyed.

    • Hello eFestivals.   Some of you may remember a vehement poster of these parts who posted by the name of @Mash011 mainly in the 2010s.   Unfortunately he sadly passed away a couple of years back but today would have been his birthday and I think it’s only right that his old friends from the forum pay tribute to him (I’m his brother and I know he didn’t have many friends outside of this place).   Please join me in wishing a happy birthday to deadly departed beloved ex-poster @Mash011.   Happy birthday!
