Downloads website is claiming they're a UK Exclusive.

"Set to show crowds the shape of punk to come, Swedish band Refused will make their exclusive UK festival appearance at Download. Earlier this year, the band announced their long awaited reunion - this is one comeback show you do NOT want to miss!"

Not sure if I'm pointing out the obvious here, but wouldn't Download have been scheduled to happen before sonisphere i.e. June is before July.

Because that means they have either just been snapped up by Download or Sonisphere didn't even manage to get the first UK appearence of their 'UK Exclusive' act!

If they are Download exclusive then I will be mythed to why R/L didn't book them so I'm still thinking they're playing, just coz NME says it's their only UK show it means nothing especially as it's NME.

"Exclusively their first UK show"? What the hell does that mean? Unless they're playing two UK shows at exactly the same time (obviously impossible) then of course the one that's earlier is going to be "exclusively their first UK show". Idiot (Copping, not you).

Actually the Soni website said first UK show since 1998 jump.

It's their first show back, and only festival show, but I reckon they'll do an off-date in London, like a headline show, possibly when they were meant to be at Sonisphere, and considering the ties between LN and FR, the possibility of a secret set at Reading/Leeds in lock up is probably much higher now.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
