The snake pit holds a fair few people but to be honest, I never saw the attraction of being right in the middle looking at lars's back. But each to their own.

Also, theres no bar or toilet in the snake pit. So whatever.

When metallica did MOP they did a few songs, stopped. Video came on the screen and they started playing MOP. Then they played some other songs after (I think - was pretty wrecked by then :D:D:D)

But the black album is sandwiched by other material. The set is usually 2-2.5 hours. Depending on whether lars turns up. :D

But what if you are someone that has paid to be in the Biffy Clyro, Tenacious D, and Trivium fan clubs? You would have paid more than the Metallica fans then, and may not want to see your favourite bands play on a stage with a big hole in the middle of it. Bit of a silly argument saying they've paid more isn't it, because it's the festival you are paying for, not a Metallica gig at the end of the day.

End of the day the way Download is usually set up is the massive gap between stage and barrier and then the massive gap cutting up through the middle of the crowd seperating it in two, Metallica will be using this space, so I can't see what the problem is really.

Its just something extra for those fans, and I don't see really that it takes anything away from anyone else. I certainly don't feel as if im getting short changed by them doing it, I don't feel affected by it whatsoever, but I think its a cool thing for those fans who will get in there.

Fair enough, if it does't affect the rest of the bands then i guess i'm quite indifferent to it being there. I'd just hate to have another AC/DC scenario whereby one band gets everything it's own way at the detriment of the rest of the day.

The 2 stage thing wasn't really any hassle, The T shirt thing was a pain so I refused to buy. There were people wearing Download T shirts with the ACDC logo on them last year though, where did they get them?

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
