Crime figures have just been reported in our local paper, there was 39 thefts from tents and 2 from vehicles and the arrested 20 for drugs most of which were associated with the supply of!

I think that's pretty good when you think in 2010 there was over a 100 arrests over the weekend! And it was only for 8000 back then

One thing youve gotta consider is who is likely to be touring next year and who will be either in the studio or taking time off. Two door will have new material out by then, I could possibly see king charles headline the calling out stage or maybes a 3rd slot down the card, jake bugg hasnt even got an album out yet, as much as I like his stuff hes nowhere near big enough to be main support on main stage. Again 3rd on card or calling out headliner may be his best punt.

A call for saturday night headline, who will have new material and fit the bill for headlining a festival kendals size must be the courteeners, crowd would love their set and theyd get the usual mental reaction when they played the hits.

Yeah 39 reported thefts to the Police, that figure can be higher with ones that don't get reported, only get reported to security or even attempted theft.

Sadly it happens at most festivals these days.

Right....that's it!

I've officially binned Kendal next year. There were just far too many negatives for me (as a family festival)

I've bought tickets for Camp Bestival on their payment plan so there's no going back now!

Thanks everyone on the forum....and especially those who I met up one way or another!

I hope KC improves its organisation next year....the line-up will inevitably be great again so I will no doubt be a little envious.

Take care everyone :)

I've done both Camp Bestival (2011) and Kendal Calling (2008/2012) and I know where I would prefer to take my children and it's not to the Lake District.

Camp Bestival is a lot more expensive, but you get a whole load of more things for kids to do almost to the point there is more for them than the adults.

Enjoy it, it's a brilliant festival.

I also won't be returning to KC next year, just reading through the comments on the FB page and here after the festival, you get the feeling the organisers ain't really bothered about feedback.

On the other hand, Rob Da Bank himself posts straight after CB (and Bestival) encouraging feedback, taking criticism and does take it on board and acts on it the following year.

Not sure who it was who said the KC organisers hold their hands up and say things will improve, then nothing is acted on but that's the feeling and impression I get too.

Hopefully you all have a cracking time next year and that the issues no matter how big or small people perceive them as, all improve your experience :)

Cheers Steve

No Wickerman for me next year I'm afraid. Its too close to Camp Bestival and I'll be camping on the south coast!

Fingers crossed for a decent(ish) line-up at Solfest next year though

Oh....and I'll be going t Glastonbuty too ;)

Is it any good for childless older big kids ?

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
    • So for Harry Styles it was actually a plastic bag that basically blocks the view of the front and back cameras. You can still use the phone screen. It's much easier than using lockers, especially for people leaving for the last train etc    I think it's basically reliant on the threat of security kicking you out if you start filming.
    • Hey, does anybody have a joining link for the WhatsApp group plz? I know the secret sets get posted there but have a new phone and number
