I've updated my clashfinder today to include the various pull-outs, replacements and rearrangements that have occurred whilst I was away. (I'll update it right up to leaving for EOTR and will re-upload and link to for anyone who might like it, notwithstanding the other, probably better ones that others have produced!). In doing such I've been exploring a little bit further and...

...I'm really liking Telegrams. Assuming that I have correctly identified them as the London-based 4-piece who have an EP and a subsequent S/T album from 2009, then they sound excellent.

I only have one major 'gap' music-wise, where there's nothing that instantly grabs me and that's after Lanterns on the Lake, at 2.15pm on the Sunday afternoon, until The Leisure Society at 5.15pm. So, any recommendations from the potential candidates?

I'll be at Kathryn Calder fo' sho'. As the kids say. I'm a big New Pornos fan, so to have her back in a solo spot is a joy. I have played the Castor & Pollux from the EOTR comp a lot. In fact, I am listening to her former band, Immaculate Machine, as I type this. Yeah, I'll definitely be there.

As for the others, well, I really like Woods so will be rushing from Kathryn to them. Also got a lot of time for Fresh & Onlys, but will have to miss them, sadly.

After Lanterns on the Lake you must run to the Garden Stage for Megafaun. If you haven't heard them (or if you have but haven't got into them) trust me, see them live because given all the other bands I knoow you like you'll love them.

Then I agree with Matt - Tinariwen followed by Woods. Listen to Aman Iman Water is Life by Tinariwen and try either At Echo Lake, Songs of Shame or Sun & Shade if you're still struggling with Woods.

It'll be Megafaun, Willy Mason, Woods and Tinariwen for me (45 mins of both Willy and Tinariwen but all of Woods). Best few hours of the festival for me alongside the Gruff - Mogwai stretch. Really gutted about missing the Fresh & Onlys but Willy Mason just about wins this one!

For me, probably the Fresh and Onlys and then Tinariwen (really starting to get into them). Would also be perfectly happy watching Willy Mason (though I saw him at Field Day - he'll be good relaxing music on a sunny afternoon, should go down well) or Kathryn Calder (not too familiar with her stuff, but I'm also a big New Pornos fan). Futur Primatif is Daniel Lefkowitz, in case you didn't know....

just listened to Telegams and was a bit perturbed to hear the guitar playing a simile of Aerial boundaries by michael hedges( one of my favourite tracks ever!)....pleasant enough

Wasnt bowled over by Willy Mason playing a few tracks last year at EOTR , although i have really liked him live a few years back.

I am always looking forward to walking in somewhere to listen to a band i havent ever heard of, to find they completely win me over and are my new favourite.

Btw , Ben, you have gone into our family history as we are always quoting you" a tidy camp is a happy camp!"... will be good to see you :-)

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I think I might just treat that time period as my EOTR pot-luck and try to catch a little bit of as many of the acts as possible. If, whilst I'm listening, someone bowls me over then I'll stay longer. Quite exciting, really!

As for Telegrams, gave them some more time this afternoon after buying (yes, buying...ME...from iTunes!!!) their album. I think it's a real grower. Elements of Rue Royale in there, but a bit more full-band-y, if you know what I mean. Also a little like A Genuine Freakshow, if anyone has heard (of) them.

They have quickly become one of my rather super little finds.

Oh, and Corina - I shall be championing the 'First Rule of Camping' once again this year, happy to Womble a bit for everyone in the interests of happiness! Will be lovely to see you again, too. Whole gang coming, I hope?

The truth is I cannot be bothered to listen to any more bands. I have reached BAND FATIGUE. KC Sounded ok, Phil wants to check out Big Deal, which I suspect means that they are a bit folksie, another boy/girl duo a la Rue Royale.

Have got my 5 must sees which involve 2 clashes, then I am going to wander around and be surprised. I must say that the Tipi looks very interesting, I am just hoping that it will be possible to dip in and out rather than booking a spot with a picnic blanket!

My biggest problem is then deciding between Leisure Society and Kurt Vile!

The Leisure Society are one of my very favourite bands at the moment. I view them, firmly, as one of the best British bands around. However, I have already seen them once this year, and will be at the Barbican show in December, so I'm going to have to miss them for Kurt Vile.

I Tweeted them, to find out if they had any "additional" sets planned but they told me that their Garden Stage set would be their only one of the weekend. Unfortunately.

i think telegrams sound good, but i suspect (if weather is half decent) that i'll start at the garden stage. have quite got into lightning dust since they were announced, and amber's wonderful voice seems much more in the starring role than it is with black mountain.

looks like i'll be with most others then to see if lanterns on the lake can finish the set without the plug being pulled, then the megafaun dash.

then, as i'm also a new pornos refugee and therefore kathryn calder fan it has to be the tipi.

after that it will be a bit more meandering - not bothered about tinariwen (clever, just not me) or woods, so will be enjoying daniel lefkowitz and also probably take in big deal. article in friday's paper on them here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/aug/18/big-deal-lights-out

I love Kurt Vile since Childish Prodigy. Saw him in a small pub in Madrid a few years back and he is, without a doubt, one of the people I bought my tickets for. If you have been listening to Smoke Rings, make sure that you also listen to Childish Prodigy, there are many hits on it too

      As someone that always likes looking at this stuff, compare the BBC opening titles...     ... and the ITV ones.     Tbf the BBC intro is better than the ones they used for the last World Cup, which I thought were pretty bad and on its own, the BBC choice actually isn't too bad. It's not as good as their pinball one for the last Euros, but the concept is reasonable. But let's be real, the ITV one is better.

      I'm only judging by highlights but considering that I saw a lot of anxieties from US fans about them getting it wrong after several bad results in the last year or so, they very much had it on opening night. Might be as much about Paraguay being a long way from the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in qualifying though.   Canada also doing something in a World Cup other than lose and arguably be good enough to have beaten Bosnia means reasonable start. Think they might regret not winning though.
