But EVERY weekend since the fest, we have carried on the glasto spirit and partied our arses off....plus had to get Leeds tickets for this coming Fri during our awful glasto comedown....Elbow and Muse baby!!!!!

yeah, sorry it's not happened as yet - it's not fully within my control to sort it unfortunately.

However, it can't be far away - I was told months ago it'd be available at around the time an upgrade to the forums was released, which it was about 4 weeks ago. But as well as the app being ready it will also need me to install the upgrade which has its own issues and extra work, which I'm currently trying to work thru. Hopefully the bits I need to do will be completed before the app is available.

I've decided that I'm going to try and do only festivals I've never done next year, because there's still loads that look good on paper which I know nothing about.

The problem is that whenever I start trying to compile a list I stumble across one I've been to and think "I can't miss that" (particularly WOMAD, always WOMAD).

There's loads of great festivals out there. Search and you will find.

^^^ Nice idea! I’ve been looking at possibilities for a while now – still looking. General finding so far is too many people seem to preach about the negatives & not positives.

During Glasto this year, x2 members of our group experienced their first festival experience – think this has now put them off attending other festivals for life!

Nope - that's one of the fests under consideration, tho as they're tighter with press passes than many other fests it might be the case that it'll have to be skipped.

I want to do one or two new festivals next year. I am tempted by WOMAD and Camp Bestival. I've already got my ticket for Bearded Theory, and, after last weekend's brilliance, I am definitely going back to Beautiful Days.

I'm more than happy to buy a ticket for any festival that I want to attend. For example, I always by my Glastonbury ticket, and always buy a pile of womad tickets.

But I'm less keen to shell out from my less-than-average wages for a busman's holiday to a fest where my purpose there is only work - and I don't get to find out if it's only work until I get there and discover if I actually like the fest.

I'm sure you don't have to spend your wages to spend your free time at work, so I don't think I'm being over the top not wanting to do that too. Having said that, me buying a ticket isn't ruled out totally but I might decide to do other fests instead which won't cost me.

IMO there's few festivals as good as WOMAD - but whether it's for you will depend on how much you might like world music. If you hate it it's probably best to swerve it.

I reckon a lot of you good people on here would've enjoyed Wilderness.

Opposite end of the scale to Glasto but something tells me 'opposite end' may be just what's needed as 'same end' obviously doesn't exist! :-)

For me next year I'm thinking Green Man, Latitude or Bestival with a strong possibility of Big Chill as it's only a couple of miles up the road.

Oh and back to the original thread, it is a bit depressing on here at the moment but lots of us still drop by for a daily fix! :-)

I really liked latitude when i went a few years ago, but i have heard that it's gone a bit downmarket crowd wise.

World music is so hard to categorise. It shouldn't be a genre in its own right, it is music which comes from all over the world, excluding the popular Western music genres. I know I will love a lot of the music at WOMAD, and find some of it excrutiatingly bad.

I agree, there's a huge amount of variety, but even so it won't appeal to the vast majority of Glasto goers who spend most of their time at Pyramid/Other/JP/Park - and it's for that reason I included the disclaimer about how much you might like world music.

I've only heard good things about Camp Bestival so far, and if it lives up to LusciousLucy and Strudders' high levels of praise it must be pretty special.

It's a festival that's aimed at entertaining the under-10s while their parents watch something to their liking, while also providing stuff for both at the same time.

Despite that it's being over-run by youngsters (16-22) who are there without their parents, which is a bit odd. Someone I spoke to who went this year (as well as previous years) says that the result is that she's not happy to have her kid run around by themselves at Camp Bestival, while she is happy with that at many other 'adult' themed festivals.

That contradiction with what it aims to do and how it pans out in reality is something which turns me off, but I guess I need to see it for myself to get the real feel for what it's about.

Went this year for the first time with the family, it is really good excellent set up for those with families and only noticed the hoards of 16-20 youths at the end of the night when the main stage closed, by that time it was time to get the wee one to her bed, similar idea to Glastonbury with the arena/campsite being as one, and the food selection was as good as Glastonbury with alot of the stalls being at both. Really recommend it and will definitely go back next year

Been going to Glastonbury for about 10 years and have been to other festivals, which although I enjoyed them didn't give me quite the buzz or whatever it is I get from Glastonbury. Until this year when I went to Womad for the first time and loved it. Last minute decision so could only do Friday to Sunday night. Much smaller than Glastonbury but definitely something special. Will be there next year for the full Thursday to Monday. (Even considering combining Womad Caceres, with holiuday in Spain as well).

Its ok those of us who have left won't be with good prep for next year!

Tis a shame glasto isn't on next year as I am working now and would more $$$ to spend there (Was also planing to get a new tent, might try fix the door on my current one have it serve out a weekend at T and maybe reading with a smaller fest thrown in somewhere)
