Pffft. No it doesn't. Was a lazy kick but was hardly vicious. Nobody thought it was a red at the time around me and very few did for a while after until Wayne Rooney got his gob on. It was a yellow card. It wasn't a Ballotelli style kick and it wasn't a very clever swing at the ball either. Red did well tonight mind.

As for mouthing off there were far worse than him out there tonight such as our own Andy Carroll. However none of those get the same scrutiny. Bale dives more than him but we'll have our knight of the realm moaning about Suarez next week etc.

Love the fact everyone is obsessed over the little shit though. Gets everyone proper riled up. He's class.

Haha exactly! Rubbish isn't it. We've seen loads of cheating/violence from brits in the last few weeks. Lescott elbow, Bale dives, Sturridge dive, Crouch gouge, Wellbeck dive, Adam Johnson dive...

None of those get as much media scrutiny as when Balotelli/Suarez etc do something though. Laughable.

I don't think Europe is the strongest. I think the 'winning keeps you high in the rankings so you do better' system is a self-perpetuating cycle that creates that delusion for most European teams. I'd say the likes of Paraguay, Chile, Ghana are on a par with the likes of Sweden/Croatia etc, if not better. But for that to show, more African teams would progress far in the World Cup, beating more European teams, rising in the rankings, to get more places in the World Cup, etc.

I get why there's 20-odd European spots compared to 2(?) for North America, 2(?) for Asia, 1(?) for Australasia/Oceania, but 5/6 for African/South American seems ridiculous.

In the game today you get a red for completing a perfectly fine two footed challenge. Yet someone can swing their leg into someone in a way that would of seen them arrest for a assault off the field and get a yellow at worse. Logic failure.

It's an accident and one that is quickly recoverable from (as Parker proved within a few minutes).

A two footed lunge is a leg-breaker and a career-ender.

The logic failure is yours for not grasping that massive difference. It was a bad kick by Suarez but it would be a very daft man who might be thinking there was deliberate intent behind it, or that a career-ending injury might have come of it.

Parker got a kicking from all angles last night, but wasn't averse to giving out his own. I laughed when Gerrard got him back (I've no doubts he deliberately made sure he got him), but good on Parker for just getting on with the game.

As I said previously, I only saw the second half but enjoyed watching Liverpool last night. The trouble is the high intensity of their game which makes them enjoyable to watch, also makes them predictable at times.

Yesterday they kept bombing down the pitch at top speed but it seemed like there was no plan b and it was as if Liverpool hoped if they kept doing the same thing it would work. I think someone on here said gerrard controls the pace of a game when he plays. I agree he increases the intensity of a game but don't think he has it in his game to slow a game down and dictate a new plan. I think Liverpool need another midfielder with a bit more skill and a football brain, however they don't come cheap and are mainly abroad.

I don't for a second think Suarez foul on Parker was an accident. No way. The ball was three feet away from where he kicked and he knew exactly where Parker was because he shouldered him in the back just before it.

I know what you mean, but I thought the immediate hand up in the air was a genius move from him! Saved him getting sent off. If Parker had have missed the header, Suarez "volley" would've been a second too early and a fresh air. Rush of blood to the head in my book. The reason I think it was deliberate is because he shouldered Parker before.

Anyway, huge scope for improvement now with him back. And Carroll..... he...... he.......he sort of looked like a footballer last night!

So .... 'Arry's no show at Anfield last night. Why?

The official word was that the flight was cancelled. And therre might even be some truth to that (I've not checked).

But I can't believe that there wasn't another flight that he could have got, that would have got him there before kick-off, cos I can't believe he planned to turn up just before kick-off. I'd have thought he planned to be there quite a while before kick-off (which would have given time to get a later flight).

I've just read that the jury are now considering the verdict in his trial.

I'm wondering if there's a link between the two, and it had more to do with him wanting to spend a last night at home &/or with his wife before he gets to go on a holiday paid for by Her Majesty.

If hes convicted, is he not off for a while anyway as the sentencing is done at a later date?

Sentencing might be done at a later date or it might not. I'm unsure what makes it one and not the other, but it's certainly the case that sentencing happens immediately sometimes.

But even if it's at a later date, it's often the case that bail is revoked following conviction but before sentencing, so it's possible that he'll be banged up before the end of the day.

What decides whether bail will be revoked or not are the sentencing options & limits. If someone who has been convicted of an offence is definitely going to gaol, and the shortest sentence they'll get is a longer time than between convixction and sentencing then it's normal for bail to be revoked and go straigt to gaol (and don't collect £200k for passing go selling a player ).

I've no idea what range of sentences there are fgor the offence they're charged with, but I'm pretty sure that a gaol sentence of a couple of years and more isn't out of the possibilities for that offence.

the fact that he'd just pushed Parker out of the way means he must have known he was there... you know, where his foot ended up. I agree it didn't look deliberate, but it's a ridiculously careless kick.... in the stomach! If he put as much into the kick as he was intending to put into kicking the ball, it must have hurt

I agree that it was a ridiculously careless kick, and also that it didn't look deliberate.

He's either a very cunning evil bastard who planned before making the kick to immediately act like he'd done it on accident, or he did it by accident. I know some can only ever think the worst of Suarez, but I think he was just a bit hyped up and did it by accident.

And while being hyped up to that extent on a footie pitch isn't a great thing because another player usually gets the bruises, the likes of Rooney shouldn't be so quick to condemn others about the same thing that he does on a regular basis.

I'm fully expecting one of those from him on Saturday in fact.
