Belated post Glasto blues

So, this is a new feeling for me. I've had the post Glasto blues before (who hasn't?), I've had the 'well, that was a good year, but it ended at the right time'. But not this year.

This year, I came back, went straight out to a friends gig and got drunk. Spent the tuesday doing not very much, and went back to work on the wednesday. All was normal until today, and now I'm having the usual feelings. "why isn't the world as lovely as Glastonbury?", "why can't I get a pieminister and a brothers pear cider in the same 2 minutes?", "Why is everyone so stressed out and serious?" etc etc etc

So I just put The Verve's 2008 set, Blurs 2009 set, Stevies 2010 set and a selection from this year on youtube while at work this afternoon and felt low for a bit. I'm at home now with my laptop in my tent and a hifi playing loudly from somewhere else in the garden to replicate the sound of a festival a cold beer, reading through the best conversations thread and feeling a little better :)

I really hope the world doesn't end in 2012.

I think what I really miss aswell is all the build up - like this time 4-5 weeks ago was a week before the fest and excitement was heightened and planning and obsessing over the weather thread etc etc

even a holiday to the south of france followed by bestival in august/september isn't getting me as exciteable in the same way as glasto does lol

The fact that it's not on for 2 years now is helping to be honest. I've had to let go of it in a way I don't usually do.

Next year I'll be doing something else, so that's opened up a world of possibilties. I love going to Glastonbury every year and find it completely unmissable, but it's only just now that I realised how constraining that is. I am actually quite oddly enjoying the feeling of not having to go to Glastonbury next year!

Is anyone else getting this?

i'm just worried that in 2013 i'll still have my last a levels to finish around the time of the festival :/

the thought of being sat in an exam room and then going home and watching on tv the place i've been to every year since 2008 and the envy involved in that is just too painful to comprehend :P

I am very worried about getting a ticket. We got a new computer after the last ticket day, and on the resale days when I was trying for other people I got nowhere near it! I think we've lost our cookies (or something), I am seriously concerned that our straight run from 2007 may have properly come to an end!

Whilst I'm finding the idea of it not being on next year quite liberating, I cannot stand the thought of it being on and me not being there ever again!

I have got myself into a properly strange place with Glastonbury where I start dreading it being over about 3 weeks before it starts, and I actually feel sick on the way there because I know that it'll soon be gone. I think I am just quite pleased to get 2 years to get a grip!

I have decided to go travelling for a year round Central and South America as a way of getting over the fact that Glasto isn't on next year.

Well.... I planned on travelling anyway, it just fits in nicely that when I get back in Jan 2013 I'll *hopefully* have a ticket and only a few months til I go again! wooohooo! B)

Hmmmm I haven't been too bad this year up till today. Just washed the Glasto mud/smell off my tent & felt really sad. Can't believe we have to wait so long. Am debating what to do next year. Save the money I would normally spend at Glasto for the following year & go all out, rent a tipi, buy all food & drink there etc... Or go to another festival, which to be fair I usually do 2 or 3 anyway. What a conundrum

It was my first time this year, and I didn't know that I would have loved it so much! It's in the past week or so that I've been feeling the blues. We went straight from Glasto to Croatia for a week, so didn't feel it then. But now I'm back at home and work and I no longer have it as something to look forward to! Well, shall have to start saving for 2013!

I'm having major post festival blues, I want to be back in a field rather badly :(

I'm currently looking for gigs to keep my mind off of it but there aren't any good ones about at the minute. Boo.

Why did i just go on the glasto webcam,it looks like a ghost town,it's upsetting to see when we were all there having the time of our lives just last month.

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
