Have bought a couple crates of Brothers festival cider to take this year.. am wondering if its Ok to freeze them before heading off though? May be a silly questions... but does cider expand when it freezes? Don't want my cans to explode!!!

Goodie, a thread of people congratulating themselves for hating brothers and getting snobby about what people drink, over what is basically squashed apples (Lucy excluded - such an infectious enthusiasm for cider!)

It must nearly be the festival! :D

When ever my friends order any form of 'pear cider' they get a 10 minute lecture on how 'pear cider' is an oxymoron and it's actually called perry with a good real perry easily being identifiable by the fact it'll give you the shits after a few.[/short rant]

As for the Cider bus I'm not too keen, too much tanins for my tastebuds. I preferred the sweeter stuff I found in a cider bar hidden in Shangri La. I have vague memories of this anyway.

B hill is good v good... but my preference goes to perry's cider (near me, ironically they dont do perry...) buying 2 x 10 litre kegs this year of their medium sweet scrumpy. (not actually that sweet at all and v drinkable even warm in the morn ;) ) after that i guess sheppeys or henneys then apsal, then co op own.....

I had a treat yesterday. Popped to Middle Farm and the National Collection of Cider & Perry - first of all put in my job application for Full Time Sales Assistant (yaaaaas!!!) but secondly, purely cos its there and I just had to do it, had a wee snifter of Burrowhill Cider Bus Cider straight from the barrel a whole 13 days early before the festival :D The barrel even states its the official Glasto cider for those that dont know!

As far as im aware you can get orchard pig (its made in glastonbury town) but if you dont wanna go round to the town a local company close to me are going to be selling plastic jerry cans- 2.5ltrs- from a lay-by on the A361 close to Pilton and the main entrance to glasto... their cider is luverrly- especially the medium blend and will be perfect to take in - just the right amount in each jerry for a day's drinking in the sun!

Here is a link to their website and the glasto discount they are offering.. http://www.trickycider.com/glastonbury-festival-cider

hope this helps and happy glasto!!

ps as an added bonus this cider conforms to the Campaign for Real Ale's classification of 'real' cider!

yea its good theres alot of "shacks" around the area that do free samples too, theres one thats just near storridge which you will probly go past on the way to ledbury without realising. they will mix you gallons to your taste for about £6 a gallon... and its potent stuff the place is called "Knights cider" if your heading to westons for a day out try that on the way or way back there website will give you directions. But id get sumone else to drive cos we always say to the old guy that we still cant make out our minds up, so he just keeps on pooring samples this year i got my organics from tescos again . 5er each only place iv seen cheaper is booker but iv lost my card.

Need some advice ...

I don't like Magners or Bulmers. I do like Strongbow and Scrumpy Jack. What would be the best cider to buy on site? I randomly bought a pint of 'something' from cider bus once, and it was rank! Sorry to all Cider bus lovers, but we all have different tastes!

I normally take my own (although last year did a booze free festival due to funds), but just can't be bothered! I don't drink that much, so figured I'd just buy when there rather than dipping into warm cans from my tent ... But I am taking some spirits.

Ta and stuff x Peace x

    • Generally shorter too, I imagine. 🙂
    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
    • Excellent new release from overpass today - well worth checking out.
    • Having lived here for 2 and a half years now my take is that security, safety and organisation are just not a priority in Spain. It's not even exclusive to festivals. It's a part of everything.   Simple example. I'm Irish and in Ireland if you assemble a construction site you have to adhere to a lot of regulations about cordoning off the site so nobody can enter and get injured. Here, you're walking down the foot path and suddenly without any warning you're in a construction site. If not, you'll suddenly find yourself directed onto the road to get around the construction.   Life is more laid back here in general. Pros and cons.
