Doing my annual scan through the lineup and trying to discover some new stuff. I've had a listen to 'Adventures in Freestyle' and like it very much. Has anyone seen Freestylers before, and if so, can you tell me what they're like in the flesh? Ta.

When I saw their name I got them confused with the Bomfunk MCs, who of course sung Freestyler.

Beyond that I can't help I'm afraid.

Saw them many years ago at Jazz World Stage (1995?). They were excellent. UK Rappers with breakdancers. Only song I can remember is Here We Go:

That was a couple of years before my first one you old bugger ;-). Nice work. I'll have to make this my Glade band this year! As long as it doesn't clash too horribly with The Go! Team.

Yeah, what with all the different styles they seem to have, I was wondering how big the band would be, bearing in mind the Glade stage isn't that big.

I saw them in France in 2000 and they had about eight or nine band members, and three or four breakdancers, who were also midgets so could work nicely for a smaller stage

I went to see the Stanton Warriors at Cable in London last friday and the Freestylers were playing (albeit only a DJ set). However, they weren't on til about 4:30 am and i left well before that, so i have nothing useful to add to this thread!

i saw them years ago, maybe 98 or so at a big free gig in Heaton Park, Manchester. i loved all that big beat stuff back then, though that night i was high on mushrooms and more interested in cow tipping (we failed).

i still love their 'FSUK:2' mix and the Ruffneck/Spaced Invader single.

and that 9 minute remix of Audioweb's 'Policeman Skank' is sublime.

If you like breakbeat you'll love the Freestylers.

I would say the Freestylers are one of the original breakbeat beat masters.

Raw as f**k is a good one if you want the real Freestyler vibe!

Thanks everyone. I was in the Glade in '09 when Stanton Warriors played, and that was one of my highlights of any Glastonbury. Incidentally, anyone know which stage they're playing this year? Friday @ 19:00 is showing on their myspace page.

Yeah, I agree with Karmann. Real good breakbeat (or at least it used to be). Although I reckon We Rock Hard is a better album than Raw as F*ck. Not sure what their newer stuff is like though?

Definitely worth checking out if you fancy some lively beats!!

It was '99 (I was there too). Also supposed to play in 05 but dropped out with no notice so hotfooted it to the Pyramid just in time to see Bobby Gillespie abusing the crowd.

We Rock Hard is an awesome album. If they play live it will be bass heavy breaks with a live band (well worth seeing). If DJ will it be a vaguely breaksy mash up with all sorts thrown in (at Bestival they were mixing the likes of Aha and UB40 with D&.

I never have the faintest clue what year anything happens. I remember what was on last year, I remember, there were some rainy years recently and some a long time ago. I remember the pyramid when it wasn't a pyramid, but not when it was originally a pyramid. Other than that, I have no clue :-(
