Osama Bin Laden is dead

Most of the world will be relieved at his death. The message to those who follow in his footsteps is that they can expect a similar end eventually.

His death is probably the most convenient end.

A trial would have been a farce. Where would it have been held? Who would be the judges? Under what/whose law would he have been indicted?

After a sentence of life imprisonment, which country would be willing to gaol him? Which country would put its citizens at further risk by terrorost kidnap demands for his release?

While there will alost certainly be attacks in the name of reprisal, who is to say those attacks would not have happened anyway under the Bin laden jihadist agenda? I

The double tap to the head has probably saved a load of hassle.

The novel entitled The Reluctant Fundamentalist is strikingly relevant here. I'd advise anyone to get a copy. And Phil, we still need to do a swap for that national book thingy.

An end to Islamic terrorism will not be found with diplomacy either, it's not us just being in their lands remember it's our Western lifestyles they disagree with. The only way to completely stop it would be to change our entire culture to fit with theirs, never going to happen!

There's a danger in linking the words Islam and terrorism. It's a bit like linking Christian and crusades. A huge over simplification. "They" don't have a single culture or set of beliefs any more than Christians. There are Islamic fundamentalists just as there are Christian fundamentalists who preach that 'their way' is the only way. Equally there are Christians and Moslems who believe in a spirit of tolerance and live and let live.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
