First festival over 18

This will be my first festival when I can drink at the bars, finally! What I want to know is, to help me work out how much to save, how much is brothers usually, like how much does it normally go up each year and tha same for stuff like cider bus, ales and your bog standard supermarket lagers?

Probably, I didn't try and get served because I look about 12 but I'll be taking ID so it'll be fine

I got I.D. recently about a week after my 30th birthday. It was the first time in 10 years. I was so happy I could have gone gay for the guy that asked me!

The price list above may not help as the Real Ale Tent is now not run by the WBC - Avalon Bars and events ran it last year for the first time and as far as I am aware they have it this year { and they will be running some of the smaller bars }

Its a bit early for price list but its likely it will be more than last year although I suspect it will not be a huge jump due to the fact that Glastonbury as you know is open so if the price shoots away up people will just walk back to their tent. There has been some VAT Changes of course so we may end up with awkward prices - just what the staff need.

The first big event I am at is the Bob Dylan Concert in Finsbury Park and then the concert on the Sunday but its only two days before I depart to go to Glastonbury so I may forget to post the info.

this year with several operators running the bars its likely that staff may be using different age check guidelines so they could be using Challenge 21 or Challenge 25 or even Challenge 30 { I know from last year Hop Farm and Hyde Park it was Challenge 25 but some of the others it was Challenge 21 } - sure it would make sense to have a national figure but so far there is no national figure.

Thanks for the list, based on that it seems like It could be reasonable and as for the brothers, your right is it all mass-produce and it's not real cider but it sure does taste good you must like some mass-produced drink?

I am mystified where you are getting your information from

for a kick off who is ' they ' ?

Each Bar Operator at Glastonbury or any other event can use any age they want as they are only guidelines - these guidelines vary all over the UK and they even vary at different events in the same venue.

So when you write ' 21 isnt or shouldn't really be used ' are you quoting the The Licensing Act 2003 ? as there is no compulsion to use Challenge 21/25/30 apart from 18

I can only say that the WBC used Challenge 21 at Glastonbury 2010 - but they did use Challenge 25 at various other events.

What they decide to use this year I dont have a clue as I will not be sent the notes until next month.

I'm 31 and I was asked for Id the other week in asda!!! The only ID I had was my works one which had no date of birth on!!!! Thankfully I was with my hubby who is 28 and they didn't ask him!

I suppose I did write it in an odd way. And when I worked at sainsburys I was told the government had changed the scheme to C25 rather than 21 because I had to go around and change all the posters, so maybe my manager was misinformed or something?

But either way it doesn't matter I'll have ID

I always have a few drinks at various bars across the site, especially the Cider Bus and Brothers, the kind of stuff I wouldn't drink anywhere else. However, it is only at 18 that you could be looking forward to being able to use the bars - for most of us one of the great joys of Glastonbury is not having to use the bars!

Just to add to the ID debate, I was at a pub with some mates not to long ago and we all got asked for ID (Fair enough, if happens often) so we all presented our driving licenses.....

We were told she had "never seen these type before" They are the older style pink ones with the color picture, as opposed to the new type with the black and white picture which came out around 2 years ago..... we explained there had been a slight change for new ones which are issued and were then told by her "I don't feel comfortable accepting these, bring your passports next time"

We shall not be going back.

As long as your card has the PASS Hologram it will be accepted at Glastonbury provided your face matches the card of course

When I popped into morrisons on my lunch for a few brothers I showed my Citizencard which is part of the PASS scheme to the woman serving and she called the manager over because she said she's never seen one before!
