eFestivals Discussions definatly lost a lot of useage with the rise of facebook, Id say the festivals individual forums have taken a hit but it isn't too bad, its been steady for a while, as in I haven't really noticed it going up and down.

I don't use facebook, but do have twitter, but Im definatly a heavy user on this site, and im glad I see some friendly usernames on here! But I don't feel the need to + and - anyone however

No offense nightcrawler but my take on it is that it isn't particularly the content of your post more the fact alot of your posts are self indulgent. I can't look through the threads at the moment as i'm on my mobile so I can't give you references but from memory I do think you've started a few threads basically just about you which isn't really going to lead to a discussion is it? Now in saying this i'm not saying it's just you, there's a few who at times seem to only post about themselves (den we'll let away with it simply because he's den). I feel the forum is alot less cliquey than it was when I first started posting in 07, whether this is a good or bad thing isn't for me to say.

As for talking about the feeling of the forum changing, I disagree. Just ask all the people who've been given advice when they've been having a hard time or the people who've been helped get tickets for festivals through the help of other forum members. The forums have changed but that's life, nothing stays the same forever. You either have to move with the times or decide that maybe it's not for me anymore.

Constructive advice: I reckon you should remove the plus minus stuff. I have no personal opinion on the matter because it doesn't bother me in the least, but from a business perspective, I think it gives the impression that there aren't many interested people due to the low counts and it leads to social exclusion and personal crap such as that experienced by nightcrawler in this thread.

They came with a forums upgrade, rather than being something I've added. I'm not entirely sure if & how they can be removed.

As for people that have an issue with them, they need to lighten up. Like it or not, every person is forming opinions of others via every post they read. The plus/minus stuff is merely a representation of that which they can choose to take note of or not.

Ok to answer your original question Nightcrawler, I think the +/- system is a pretty good way of agreeing or disagreeing with a post without the need to waste time on a pointless reply like: "I agree", or "That is a funny post you made there", or "<emoticon>", or "<emoticon><emoticon>" etc.

Or indeed without getting into a mind-numbing circular conversation that you would rather avoid, like I don't want to comment on your "my girlfriend and I were tripping on acid for like 9 hours straight what a night" (or whatever) posts, as it's not my place/very nice to say that I think drugs are bad and we don't give a shit etc. But it's nice to be able to leave an anonymous little -1.

Having said that, I very rarely give people -1's. I think there is a place for the feature on the website though, just as long as you don't take it too seriously.

i like the + and - on posts. like others have said, you might agree or disagree with something but don't have much to say about it so the + and - just means you can express that without having to post.

i personally don't like self indulgent threads on here, and nightcrawler starts a lot of them. any thread which is intended to start a discussion has it's place here. but i really don't see the point in threads like "i had a nice birthday at the weekend, me and my girlfriend had loads of sex and took loads of drugs. i have a messy bedroom because i'm interesting." it's completely pointless.

I use the +1 (albeit rarely) when I would have posted +1 after a post - saves the pointless non-comment. But this thread has travelled faaaaar away from it's original point. I wish there was a way you could see which posts people had plus/minused though - I like to know the rare occasions someone agrees with me!

    • Yet again we’re missing the WH Sunday reggae slot
    • Occident has got larger over the years and there's relatively little overlap with mbv and OR fans that I think it would work fine as it would divide the crowd so effectively.   They don't even need to give the biggest stage from an optics perspective either, this would be billed as a secret short set and used to promote her new album.
    • Really like this! Few artists a bit low I reckon like the Reytons, Yard Act, the Royston Club and Florence Road but I’d absolutely take this!
    • Yeah Olivia Rodrigo walked right past me when leaving the crowd during The Cure set.   I had to escape where I was in the crowd so was just chilling in the bottom left corner when she walked through with a couple of others.    Thought it was her or someone who looked incredibly like her but no-one else seemed to pick up on it, either not bothered or just too engrossed in their own conversations to not notice..
    • Why?   It’s all made up nonsense, an illusion for the masses.   Who do we owe these numbers on a server to, and how will they collect them?
