I've thoroughly enjoyed going to the first five Rockness festivals but its time for me to move on, as I am no longer part of the demographic they are trying to attract. I don't have a problem with this at all as there are plenty of other festivals, and I sold my ticket a few weeks ago.

Have a good one guys! :D

Nothing huge on the lineup but wasnt expecting much more big names to be honest.

Wide range of acts though, some that I will probably catch -

Laidback Luke

Boxer Rebellion

Beardyman

Broken Records

Saint Saviour

Example

Sons & Daughters

Harvey McKay

Derricl Carter

Andy Weatherall

Funk D'Void

Plus need to check out some others, anyone fancy doing a Spotify playlist? Or similar?

Not sure who is the Arena headliners are on the Sunday yet. Hopefully get the stage splits soon :)

I'm still confident it's going to be a good year, the only thing that’s slightly annoying me is that all the acts I want to see I've seen before:

The Chemical Brothers, Boys Noize, Fake Blood, Erol Alkan, Simian Mobile Disco, Clouds, Magnetic Man.

Will probably try and catch a few acts I haven't seen before though:

The Japanese Popstars, Sub Focus, Katy B, DJ Shadow, Mark Ronson (DJ Set), Modeselektor, Magda, We Are Scientists.

Looking at those lists I know theres going to be a lot to keep me happy so roll on June 10th!

Aye there will be plenty to keep me busy anyway over the weekend, not to mention just the eFest campsite banter over the weekend.

For the £99 I paid I think it's worth it. Not sure if I would have stretched to £150 for it though, and definately wouldn't pay £200 for VIP or whatever for it.

Considering 3 nights camping alone can cost you around £30 for the weekend on a campsite with facilities, add on the cost of seeing say the Chems and Kasabian (£30 each) then it does seem good value.

9 weeks today till I head up for it...Bring on the sun B)

I am buzzing for the weekend now: Chemical Bros, Magnetic Man, Two Door Cinema Club, Modeselektor, Laidback Luke, Erol Alkan, Nero, Beardyman, Jamie XX, Groove Armada, DJ Shadow, Boys Noize, Simian Mobile Disco, Annie Mac, Fake Blood, Sub Focus, Jesse Rose, Clouds... and late nights at Arcadia! I am a very happy man!

Admittedly, it's not a brilliant announcement, but I'm quite happy with the line-up as it is. Plenty of acts there that I love and plenty of acts there that are new to me, which is what festivals are all about for me.

I have a feeling there will be more to come too. For example, Carl Craig hasn't even been mentioned, but Rockness is still down on his website as an upcoming gig.

I love the idea behind the Rock n Roll Circus and I'm ~seriously~ loving the fact that Arcadia Afterburner will be going on 'til 3am. Does that mean we can expect the headliners of Arcadia not to start until later? That would mean Mr Alkan would be on after the main stage and Arena headliners have finished. Can you imagine how mental the area around Arcadia Afterburner is going to be come 1am?

Not a brilliant announcement - but I think everyone on here built themselves up for a fall anyway. Nobody from Rockness said a 'huge' announcement with 'big name' acts was coming....we were just told more names.

Personally, I was already well happy with the line-up and I'm actually interested in a couple of the headliners for a change.

I'm even happier now FUNK D'VOID, IVAN SMAGGHE, and JAPANESE POPSTARS have been confirmed. :D

    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
