Indie Disco

One of the best things for me about V Festival at Weston is the Friday night indie disco. Huge tent packed out with people getting ready for the weekend, dancing to (arguably) good tunes. Anything like that at Glasto on the Tue/Wed/Thu nights before the music kicks off on the Friday?

thanks

Actually - thinking about it, if Zane Lowe does a set on Thursday, it is more like V's Indie Disco.

Baggy Mondays plays a mix which is based around old Madchester hits. V's indie disco plays the top tunes of all the acts who are playing all weekend - many of whom are indie so it ends up being dubbed the "Indie disco".

When Zane Lowe has done his Radio 1 set on Thursday night from the BBC Introducing stage, it has tended to be a mix of music from the weekend to come, which is just great for whetting the appetite, and maybe even picking up on some acts you hadn't thought of before. I was there when he had Mr Hudson and The Street guesting, and he finished by playing "Song2" and everyone went a bit mental - so I think that must've been 2009.

So Zane Lowe is another possibilty for the indie disco hunter - and it may be better for it's lack of comparison with the V version.

It is true that on Thursday you should just wander and see what you find. I loved Baggy Mondays in 2008 when I first found it, but it wasn't quite the same when i went again in 2010 because apart from getting more packed, the surprise had gone. I had expectations of it like "It'll be great when we all sing along to "I am the Resurrection" - and it was, but not like the first time when it was new. It is much better to go and find something that surprises you rather than something you have expectations of.

zane lowes show is enjoyable, saw him in 09 at the park area.

I like the general wine bars all around the site that have speakers with all genres blasting out,and people dancing around the general area to some top tunes.

walked past one and it was a nice beatles session going on,then a little walk away some rolling stones was blastin out!.

I normally just go with the flow, I won't go looking out certain types of music. one of my favourite moments from last year was dancing to Birdhouse In Your Soul at the DJ bit near The Other Stage.
