Question regarding last years headliners

ok well i've only been on this site for a week or so, and i was wondering what it was like this time last year, did every1 predict GNR, AF and Blink to headline before the announcement just like people are predicting MCR, strokes and muse this year?

still clutching on straws at the hope of some1 like daft punk playing :D

seems a bit dull to me that people feel sure that these 3 will headline this year as opposed to having some1 headline out of the blue

Blink were a definite, there was some debate whether it would be Arcade Fire or Libertines headlining (efests said Arcade Fire, another reliable source said Libertines) and efests had MCR down as a possibility until the reliable source came up with GNR and efests used that information to confirm it.

All this happened a couple of weeks before the announcement, I think by this time last year they were set as GNR, Arcade Fire and Blink. This both efests and keese (the reliable poster) have said Muse, Strokes and MCR.

there were an awful lot of people who just didn't believe that Arcade Fire would headline, believing them either not big enough or not worthy enough.

Some people - tho I think prompted to think it via punktastic - actually thought they'd be headlining the tent.

I kept on saying that I had great information on the fact that they would headline - and even checked and double-checked it because there was so much lack of belief, and it still wasn't believed.

The info I've had this year on Muse, Strokes, & MCR - and Pulp subbing to Strokes - isn't from quite as solid sources as the info was last year, tho the two sources I have for it are still very strong and with a proven reputation of being right.

My main reason for having some slight doubts about that info is merely due to me having received it such a long time before the announcement, because I can't be entirely certain that the bands were all solidly booked at the point I got that info, meaning it could possibly be what they were hoping/planning to do rather than what they're actually doing - but then again that shouldn't be the case due to the origin of the info from one of those sources.

And of course there's a guy who posts here occasionally called Keese, who has posted mostly good info about headliners a few weeks before the announcement - and he's posted here this year that it's Muse, Strokes, and MCR too.

So all in all it's still looking very likely that those three acts are the headliners. But there's always the possibility that it's wrong.

I remember about 2 weeks before the announcement Guns n Roses came out from absolutely nowhere in the rumours. Arcade Fire and Blink were locks pretty much though. Though the Libertines/AF headliner confusion was fun.

At this point last year the headliners were nailed on as Gun N Roses, Arcade Fire & Blink but unlike last year a couple of weeks earlier it was expected to be Blink, Arcade Fire & MCR and then Gun N Roses & Libertines were added.

Blink were a definite, there was some debate whether it would be Arcade Fire or Libertines headlining (efests said Arcade Fire, another reliable source said Libertines) and efests had MCR down as a possibility until the reliable source came up with GNR and efests used that information to confirm it.

Revisionists, all three of you. ;)

MCR was never said by me with certainty last year. The news article where they were mentioned is still available for you to check.

Few people believed that AF were going to be headliners, tho I stated and restated it with certainty. Just search back thru the posts from this time last year to see that's the case.

G'n'R I got from my own source (who gave me this year's names too), not from keese - it just so happened that the timing of us each saying them coincided. If I'd have been using Keese as a source for that I wouldn't have believed him, because I knew for certain that he was wrong saying that Libs were headlining and not AF.
