Queues friday evening

My job this year means I can't leave London until 4pm Friday, (and no I can't get out of it). Anyone know what the Friday evening queues were like last year, now that so many arrive earlier now? Any advice I would be grateful. I park blue side by the way...Am I going to miss U2?

My mates will have tent and everything ready..

considering the last few years that there are usually around 100 000 on site by thursday morning i would imagine you wont have a problem in the slightest getting in to either the car park or the festival itself, the problems you might have are a possible lengthy walk from your car to the gates and finding your mates, unless one of them is going to meet you outside. i would imagine if your in the car park by 8.30pm you should catch u2 without a problem

what sort of time do you think you'll arrive at the site ? road works or traffic jams on the way might hinder you a bit as well

Have you considered catching the train down to Castle Cary (you could be on-site by 7.30pm) and getting a lift back with your mates?

Thursday morning last year there was no queue whatsoever - so friday you should certainly have no problem!

EDIT: Unless the hardcore u2 fans all turn up at the same time .

my missus has come in on a friday evening before having left london at around 4. Walked straight in

also worth remembering there's a very high chance you'll get searched coming in at that time

my friends have left yorkshire on the the train and got there for headline act no problem so i dont think you need worry about missing your hero.

I arrived on site at about 6pm on the Friday last year, and walked straight in with no difficulty.

The only stumbling block was the waiting time for the bus at the drop off point, but you've obviously got no need to worry about that.

Another option is to get train and arrive at castle Cary at around 6.30.. How bad are the shuttle buses on a Friday evening these days?

There will be no queues at all Friday evening. We arrived Thursday afternoon last year and went straight in (and we drove from East to West parking voluntarily!) 95%+ of people will be on site by Thursday evening so it will not be a problem at all arriving on Friday

You shouldn't need to book a seat for the shuttle bus :S

The bus journey only takes 10-15 minutes. The thing is waiting for enough people to be on the bus, so that the driver can justify the trip. I had to wait a good 45 minutes at the drop off point last year.

The only problem you will have is people pointing the finger at you as you walk in all fresh and clean, and they all be shouting.....

"HAHAHAHAHA you know what you missed!"

Friday evening arriving by train is easy. I know people who have done it for the last two years, arriving at Castle Cary at about 7.15pm. Very smooth shuttle bus and no sweat at all to make the headliners.
