Aretha Franklin would be ace yeah.

The legends slot is a bit like a veterans march, every year their numbers get less, so no-one will march at all.

There's a diminishing number of people who can pull of the legends slot, you've got to be what?, successful for 40 years or so, have recorded proper big, famous sing along stuff that a whole field of 3 generations will know, it's a tricky slot for the bookers to fill well, I think. They've done a great job in the last few years, but realistically, who of that calibre is left?

(don't say Pearl Jam, please)

I thought we'd established the legend was going to be Don McLean a while ago - can't remember why but isn't he doing some shows over here at nearly the same time? Personally I'd love to see Carole King, ideally with my namesake James Taylor.

Understand the talent, appreciate there's an enormous amount of skill there, just that type of musicianship doesn't get me, you know. It's a gut response, it doesn't grab me by the bollocks and swing me around the room, I'm afraid. Never has, never even had a teenage axe hero phase

I know what you mean yeah, doesnt do it for me really either (the w*nky guitar stuff) but some of it does. Im not a massive fan of either tbh, would listen to them in the car or anything but Id like to see Beck live, West Holts, sunset slot.
