Surely this means no MCR!?

Another band would be Pendulum. I personally hate them but I wouldn't be surprised if they headlined at some point. Mumford & Sons packed the NME tent last year too. Band of Horses - given 2 or 3 albums worth - will end up there at some point (they have a Kings of Leon quality about them). Beirut are being pushed quite hard, as are Chase & Status, The Vaccines seem to seeping out of every shit-infested, BBC Radio 6 sponsored orifice, The XX wouldn't go beyond the NME tent, then there's Dizzie Rascal and Tinie Tempah.

Part of me thinks everybody on here has been way off and we'll get something like Pendulum, Limp Bizkit and My Chemical Romance for the headliners this year. Any of them headliners at other festivals?

I don't ever see Pendulum making it to headliner status, Limp Bizkit perhaps could've about ten years ago and MCR can probably do it now or never. IMO there aren't alot of headline acts coming through just now. If justice live up to potential I can see them becoming massive but it all depends on the second album.

Everybody (including Neil) had MCR nailed to headline last year and it didn't happen. Neil could be wrong again.

Nope, I never did. You've made that bit up!!!

The exact words I published about MCR were these:-

"And finally, the act we're least sure of but believe are the third headliner are My Chemical Romance."

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/10/100301f.shtml

That was published on 1st March. About a week before the announcement we had the right acts, and stated 100% confidently it was definitely them - and we were the only place to get them right.

Are you saying that you are certain this year?

Nope - about none of the rumours we have listed.

What I do have this year is four names given to me by two different sources that both have a proven record with getting stuff like this right - what I don't know is how good their own info is this year.

I believe that the four names I have are more likely to be right than wrong, but I'm not certain that they are right. If I had that certainty they'd be marked in the rumours as TBC's and not just 'strong rumours'.

Last year MCR were never marked as TBCs, while Arcade Fire and Blink 182 were from a quite early stage.

A girl I know (I'd say mate but I only met her once) just posted on her facebook that she met My Chemical Romance yesterday. Said she won an Absolute Radio competition for a Q & A session with them. I asked her if she'd asked them if they were playing any festivals - she said:

"Yes they are! Definitely mainland europe ones, but also v. strong hints at Reading/Leeds!"

I asked her what the hints were - she replied:

"Well, they said they're definitely playing festivals this Summer, Reading was mentioned & Gerard's really bad at lying, so it was pretty obvious!!"

---------------------------

Not particularly insightful comments and Neil already thinks (or knows?) that they're playing Reading/Leeds anyway but I thought I'd share. Have they already announced European festival dates btw, anyone?

Is it me or does Gerard Way have no personality, and is it without any degree of irony that he's comparing himself to Guns N Roses, Bob Dylan, Johnny Rotten and Eddie Vedder?

I also hated the DJ - I can't stand w*nkers who change their accent to mid-Atlantic as soon as some American people walk in.

But yeah they said they haven't been booked yet... not that that really means anything.

It does seem like if you replaced him with a shop mannequin with a balloon for a head you wouldn't notice the difference. Like Robert Pattinson.

I'm not going to lie though, I was part of the whole MCR craze at it's height (I was 14 when Black Parade came out, okay!? Don't judge me!) and I still hold a bit of a soft spot for I'm Not Okay and their new album.

    • Christ didn't even see that!
    • It does feel very bland. It would certainly spell another year (my third, I think) away from Pyramid headliners for me. That doesn't mean they aren't worthy, though. I don't follow what any of them are up to, as it isn't my thing. Good luck to them.   You would think coming off a fallow year, they would want one big hitter. 'Big hitter' is obviously open to debate, but that was/is Madonna. Let's have it right. The eggs have gone in that basket, and it seems (as far the rumours go) that it's blown up. So now you're left with another plan B/replacement headliner.   I'm still of the opinion that Oasis will do it, before the Oasis thing is all said and done. Probably 2028, if they can come to an agreement. It may transpire that 2027 is bland (or at least to some of us), and 2028 is a bit... wild.   Again, though, none of us categorically know ANY of the headliners, as it stands.
