world cup looking like it could be in january.

the more i think about it though, i don't mind. january (as proven so far) are normally boring and rubbish. i wouldn't say no to a world cup right now. and it leaves june/july free for doing fun things like festivals!

I'm in two minds about it.

From one angle, it seems wrong that somewhere gets awarded the cup on the basis of saying it'll be in June, but that June is then thought as not suitable. If June isn't suitable then it shouldn't have been awarded on that basis in the first place.

But from the other side, it's wrong that how a world-wide sport happens is dominated by the view of just a small part of the world.

what's the time difference there? we wouldn't be getting it at silly times again would we? that's what annoyed me about the japan/s.korea one. but as you say, why should we be catered to all the time.

Off the top of my head I'd guess that Qatar is about 4 or 5 hours ahead of the UK - so, with games played late in their day to lesse3n the heat, I'd guess the times that we see the matches won't be too inconvenient.
