i worry about the mental state of anyone who gets so pissed off about people they don't even know watching soaps a few nights a week.

i watch soaps. i also watch loads of other programmes, and films. i read books, i play computer games, i go out places, i listen to music. why do i have to be learning and "broadening my mind" constantly?

if people enjoy watching soaps, or any other programme, what's the problem with that? how does that affect people who don't want to watch them?

I really enjoyed Eastenders when the whole Den/Little Den/Sharon/Chrissie/Phil/Grant thing. Could’ve been amazing but they totally bollixed it up. Firing “Dirty Den” for having a w*nk online?!! What better PR is there than that?!

Haven’t watched it since although I did watch some of the Phil on crack stuff, he was having a great time it seems.

Thing is though most people I know how watch them complain they are rubbish yet watch it anyway, as if watching soaps is the norm and don't have a choice.

that's what i did with eastenders. until i realised it was bollocks and switched off. think it started to get pish around the time gloomy martin left.

if corrie goes the same way, then i'll probably do the same. but i don't see that happening. i love it

Alot of TV in general is shite, but alot of people get into a TV watching habit (sad as it is). Soaps are usually on at set times and people sit down at these set times and watch the soaps, for instance, you might have your dinner every night at 7pm and watch Emmerdale while your having your dinner.

Also with soaps they (like most TV programmes) have peaks and troughs, you may have a few good months on Coronation Street then a few bad but if you stopped watching then how would you know when it was getting better again? What I'm saying is people persevere in the hope that although the programme may be shit at the moment it may well get better again but people will only wait for so long before giving up.

To make it more believable (method acting n'all that) you could have the writers work-in stoprylines that relect the off-set activities of the actors (as reported in the tabloid press - i have no insider knowledge of their private lives) - for instance you could have phil mitchell going dogging and dierdrie barlow going shoplifting (it was the actress that plays her that was caught trying to nick some choccy digestives wasn't it? and that was before the VAT rise as well). And I'm sure I read that Norris from Corrie was caught in a compromising position with a donkey - or maybe I dreamt that one.

Well, I haven`t been watching much this week because I`ve been reading Commandant of Auscwitz by Rudolf Hoess and painting the outside lavvy..and me electrics been off!!!

But have just watched tonights 7.30espisode of Correr... just what the f**k is Kevin doing?

He porks MOLL-EH for donkeys and all the ensuing mess.. now he`s walloped Tyrobot int street blaming him!!! WTF?

Now he`s having the house valued and filing for a divorce citing SALL-EHshe`s unreasonable behaviour.

Now.. let me tell yer... yer punch a bloke in the street for thinkin he`s fried some eggs in your frying pan right?

Well--I tell yer now.. theres no way you would get divorce papers drawn up the same day..and no way do you serve them yourself!!

Writers license or what. BUt why do they do things like that--which are blatantly wrong.. I`m sure they must know when they have they scriptwriter meetings.

But--on a more grave note... I`ve read today that the actress who plays the cot death thief in Enders is leaving. Can you believe she has been abused in the street. How can anybody even consider doing such a thing???

Theres been over 6000 complaints about the storyline..and get this... its going to be cut short... it was going to run till next Christmas!!!!
