Perspective - Leonard Cohen - Glastonbury 2008

I've just spent 2 hours re-watching videos of my favourite ever gig - Leonard Cohen at Glastonbury. I've always been a fan of LC, but watching him on the Pyramid with the sun setting was incredible. He turned that stage into a cathedral. I still cry almost every time I watch a video from that gig.

So I was wondering… 2008 was my only Glastonbury, but I'm going again this year (been plenty of other UK/European festivals too). But, as I said, I was wondering if you all think that these moments happen every Glastonbury. I don't know whether to be crazy excited or to not expect anything to match it.

So, 2 questions - does this happen to you every time and, for my own personal interest, how did you all rate that Cohen gig in comparison to all your favourite Glasto gigs?

I missed 2008 so can't comment on LC, but Glasto is the only festival I've been to where I can guarantee I'll have at least one "oh my f**king GOD!!!!" moment. Billy Bragg at Avalon in 2007 stands out, Blur and Stevie Wonder in recent years too. It's how I sell the festie to my mates to be honest - I don't know anywhere else where the emotion of a crowd can feel so tangible.

I have no idea what my "OMFG moment" will be this year, and I like it that way. But there will be one, oh yes. There will be one!

LC in 08 is one of my all time favourite Glastonbury moments. We weren't planning to watch, we had been lying in the Accoustic field having a beer and were off up to The Park but decided to go through Pyramid Field to maybe catch Hallelujah. Anyway we were transfixed and stayed for the whole thing. Amazing :)

And there is something like that every year, roll on 2011

Before seeing LC in 2008 I wasn't that familiar with a lot of his music but after speaking to my girlfriends dad just before the festival he advised me to definately go and see him so I went and checked him out. It was the most magical gig I think i've ever been to. I was completely transfixed on the stage.

Other Glasto 'moments' for me in recent years would be Ray Davies, Animal Collective and Blur.
