We sound realllllllly old! At the risk of sounding defensive, my favourite bands are the Super Furries and Stone Roses...

Hope festivals dont start introducing a inverse ID system 'If you look over 45, you may be asked provide evidence you've heard of bands formed after The Arctic Monkeys'.

Do you think that KC either overspent the budget last year what with it being their 5th anniversary or theyre saving for 2012? Because if you look at last year you had bands like The Futureheads, the Subways, BSP, Wild Beasts who would have walked into a headline slot this year, so the argument theyve got pretty low budget headliners to get in stronger acts elsewhere looks pretty much a slim one.

Its a shame in a way because after last year getting the headliners we did, everyone was thinking 'imagine what theyd get for next year!' obviously hasnt turned out that way so saving for next year perhaps? Although as I understand 2009s line up was pretty awesome too, so duno if the tickets are cheaper this year or the beer maybe?

did anyone who went last year have tickets for the thursday ? and if so what was the thursday night like ? did they do much and does anyone know if theyre planning anything for the thursday this year ?

i seem to remember reading that the people who did trash city at glastonbury were doing something at kendal last year on the thursday but i could be mistaken.

Yeah...there was stuff on but we didn't see much of it (two naked fire eating comedians were the highlight). Cost £20 last year and only a tenner this year so assume there won't be much on

We'll be stayed Thursday, if we can, just cos it'll make for a more relaxed weekend - any entertainment would be a bonus! :)

that would be great, i missed the chance to see them at glastonbury as the other lads arent really in to them, just remember watching the highlights when i got home with all the confetti type bits of paper blowing from the stage in to the crowd whilst they played do you realize. The start was excellent as well by the looks of it with the large inflatable ball rolling over the crowd with the singer inside.

would be a good closer on sunday but ive gotta say i probably know the words to most of the blondie stuff and theres nothing better than ending the festival with a good singalong, remember the verve and blur on the closing nights at glastonbury being something special cos you knew all the words.

yeah ive heard she can sometimes be a bit out of it when shes on stage, would spoil it cos theres a well known back catalogue to get the crowd going. Ive heard a few complaints about the coral not putting much effort in last year as well, that would have been disappointing to see because on paper theyre another band who should have a decent enough back catalogue to storm a venue like kendal

This year will be my first at Kendal and also my first festival camping :D

Some pretty brilliant acts announced so far, can't wait to see who else is playing.

Aside the music though, what else goes on around the festival that's worth taking a look at? x

that feels like the old Dylan argument all over again - you know, how would you feel if you were still playing the same songs 50 years on? - admittedly, we are only talking 30 odd years here, but, hum, good on our Debbie for carrying on this long - I'm proud of 'er!!!!

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
