Kendal Calling 2011

Yes, must admit I spent a lot of time in the Calling Out tent last year. There's no time to set up anything flashy in there before you're on. These New Puritans struggled to get two drummers and a wind section sat down before they had to kick off...

The calling out stage sounds much more like my sort of thing as well, like a lot of my music rough and ready, some you end up liking and quite a lot you think er thats crap but you still enjoy the experience. Never been to KC before but looking at last years line up the folk stage looks as if it would have been ok at times as well.

they'll probably not have as many staff on this year sadly...last year you walked to the bar and you'd get 3 staff jump on you trying to get your beer...I was watching the Subways, walked to get a beer and got back to mates during one song...heaven!

Aye it was Brothers Pear Cider last year.

This year it's to be Aspall's - one of the nicest ciders (and apple juices) I've ever tasted. For the first time this year there will also be a selection of ciders from local breweries available in the real ale (and cider!) tent.

I'm pretty annoyed with C&S headlining, would much prefer a band like Foals, The XX, Jamie T, Glasvegas, Manics, etc on the main stage, and have C&S in the dance tent

It was only two years ago they played the Dance tent (and not in a main spot), and they havent got that much bigger, certainly not as big as Blondie or The Cribs, or any of the past headliners!

i dont know a lot about C & S and ive never been to KC so im not sure what size the dance tent is and how many it holds, there seems to be loads of teens going judging by facebook comments and they all seem very happy with C & S. If the dance tent only holds a thousand or so i would imagine it would be a health and safety risk with everyone trying to cram in to it.

Im sure you can tell by my previous posts that C & S arent really my sort of thing and i much prefer bands like the ones you've listed however i fully expected a similar friday headliner to last year when calvin harris appeared, i had my money on hot chip !

Dont think it will spoil my festival as there seem plenty of other stages

judging by the bookings of the cribs, C & S and blondie i honestly think that the manics and elbow who we both previously wanted would be too expensive for the festival to afford without compromising the rest of the line up.

who knows, theres an announcement being made by them on monday in which theyre crypticly saying "Big non-Kendal announcement coming on Monday ;)", not sure what that entails, i would imagine bands comfirmed would just start and filter through now rather than big announcements

Enjoyed Our Fold, it would be good to see them back. Seemed to bring a lively crowd with them as well. Are they a Manc band? I'd like to see Lucid Dream, Balaleika Brothers, Goldheart Assembly, Micky Kerr and Wind Up Birds back (apologies if I do bang on about them), and I'd love any of Fonda 500, Jeffrey Lewis, or Herman Dune to play. But then again its great starting the day after an open-air breakfast with no pre-conceptions ready to watch 10 or 15 bands I've never heard of, and ending the day slightly the worse for wear with a shopping list of cds to buy!

Yeah, I'll try that if I bump into Mr Marr at the urinal...probably go down about as well as offering Mozza a Big Mac. I live in Brum and planned on going to a gig they did in Leeds just after the festival but they cancelled it.

Cant do jazz...its the only music genre I hate (Miles Davis aside)...now, if it was a Blues tent...

We sound realllllllly old! At the risk of sounding defensive, my favourite bands are the Super Furries and Stone Roses...

Hope festivals dont start introducing a inverse ID system 'If you look over 45, you may be asked provide evidence you've heard of bands formed after The Arctic Monkeys'.

Theres a really good Manc band called 'Deadbeat Echoes' that I hope will play...never seen 'em live but the stuff I've heard sounds cracking...

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
    • Been last time in 2018 when the festival was happening in parque Bela vista. ls the new location good for such a big festival? What's the temperature in the evening near Tejo? Should we bring a raincoat or a jacket?
