Poppy Fascism?

I'm sure I said this last year, but I'm always a bit surprised about this…..I manage a public building and we mark the 'Two minutes silence' every year. Having just arranged it again this morning I find it quite astonishing that people who are proudly wearing their poppies give me grief, become overtly disrespectful, moan, tut, even become abusive when 'Big Ben' bongs at 11.00 etc.

What is that all about ?

just posted on this protest in the tuition fees protest thread. This is what I just witnessed in south kensington. This goes a little bit beyond people sending emails or going on facebook during the 2 minute silence

I stood with Baby Hendrix and observed the TWO MINUTE SILENCE...he was very good , although I`m sure the eggcup full of raisins I gave him assisted somwhat.

I looked out of my front room window as the rain lashed down and the wind blew... I had a tear in me eye thinking of me Dad on that boat.... and all the millions that have died in such awful circumstances.... but as I stood there holding his hand, I looked down at him chowin on his raisins and a feeling of something came over me, I dunno what... but I feel he (and millions and millions of others) wouldn`t be standing there now if it wasn`t for the actions of others.

den

...and I got down on my knees..and I said PRAISE THE LORD!

(no i didnt actually, before you start)

My mate is writing a film script at the moment about someone travelling back in time and killing Hitler when he was a baby, and the subsequent changes to humanity that came about. The title was definitely the best thing about it

Back to the Fuhrer

To be honest I think the film title came first and then he decided to write a film based on that.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
