The quote you presented didn't say what you claimed, so yes you're still wrong.

I might be (am ) Take That recent-facts dumb, but knew Barlow was writing songs for them 15-ish years ago, and that some at least were well regarded. Until the other day I hadn't realised quite how many tho - tho he didn't do so many on the early albums. So that makes your assumptions here wrong.

If TT are such a massive act based on their outstanding musical talent, how come that a year ago they couldn't have sold even 25% of the tickets they sold this year?

So clearly it's naff all to do with Take That or their talent, and everything to do with Robbie being back in Take That.

If this is about whether take that are good enough to play glastonbury, then I would say 100% yes. Did someone say they have the top two selling tours of all time? If that's true then that is proof right there. Someone mentioned one million ticket sales, wellthat is proof that they have crossed over to encompass more than the cat loving mums.

Btw I would class myself as an indie fan(not that I like pigeon holing musical taste) but i can still admit that I like a bit of take that and have even bought ticket to see them( on their your as well as glastonbury )

A common theme on this forum is not one of the whole so-called great Glasto experience of good, easy going people, but one of total music snobs like you, who simply come across as primates with childish insults like "thicko" and "ballbags", which ironically, by coming out with crap like that, is the image of yourself that you project.

I think the overwhelming problem with Take That headlining is because they are essentially a manufactured boy band. They aren't organic, they were designed and put together in order to appeal to a specific demographic in exactly the same way that a new brand of fizzy pop would be. And however hard they try to shake that image, it'll always be there. However hard they practice their instruments, the fact will always remain that their most recognisible songs were performed by someone else playing the instruments whilst they tried to harmonise and dance at the front.

If it's being a musical snob to want music that hasn't been developed in a test tube and is known for being played by musicians, then yes - I'm a musical snob and happy to be so.

I was an adult in the 90s. I remember what they represented back then. Do you wonder why take that didnt headline glastonbury back then? Because they were an utter laughing stock. That hasnt changed just because they broke up and reformed.

Just because you may like The Flaming Lips or I Am Kloot etc makes you no more an authority on music than my cleaner who does her hoovering listening to Take That, Madonna or whoever else she may well want to listen to.

I too was an adult in the 90's and although as stated previously I am no particular Take That fan, I do not remember them been a laughing stock. I remember then as one of the most successful boy bands of the decade, put together to plug a gap in the market and play to hundreds of 1000's of adolescent teenage girls. There was a need in the market, certain music industry moguls spotted it and manufactured a band to plug that gap. It worked and it worked well, everybody is happy.

The fact they have sold 1 million tickets in a day for their tour, clearly shows that they are not shit or appallingly bad. It clearly shows that they as a pop band they are doing something right (when I say they that includes the whole team behind them) and are obviously going to be enjoyed by a large and from what I can see, diverse audience.

If you want to sit in your chair passing judgement because their writing abilities don't match up to those of your idols, then that's up to you, but I'm not going to call you a thicko, ballbag, moron etc for having that opinion, but in all honesty, are those 1 million fans going to watch them because of their song writing ability? Of course they're not. Do those fans even give a f**k about their song writing ability? Of course they don't. They're going to see them because they like the songs, the band, probably the memories of their youth for a lot of them and good luck to them, I hope they have a great time.
