well i'm glad it's getting cleared up. I just want a Daft Punk date next year, that's all i want! (one that I can go to, mind)

also, is it fraud? have TTT at any point said they are DP? or just not denied it?

It's not actually cleared up as yet.

But if it's not Daft Punk then yes, it is a fraud. A press release has been put out by the festival they've been announced for that as good as says it's Daft Punk.

Keep us all guessing eh?

Is anything confirmed headlinerwise for Saturday of Wireless and I don't mean Daft Punk precisely, just an idea of who it is because Pulp are near to definite for the 3rd aren't they? I just want to know so I can say or nay to the upcoming nuptuals of my mates who have put their wedding back a week because of Glasto...but could potentially now clash with a certain French duo performing in Hyde Park.

no ideas on any of that, sorry.

As Daft Punk haven't come out and denied it (as far as I'm aware) I still think it is either Daft Punk or they have assisted in some way. Definitely sounds like the usual singer Daft Punk use.

But at least two of the tracks sound as if they were written and ripped from stuff created ten years ago (I can't believe its almost the anniversary of Discovery! March 13th 2001. Eep! I remember it like it was yesterday. This 'new stuff' if that is truly what it is is not entirely progressive considering what they have recently done with the TRON soundtrack.

From what I've heard and guesswork I suspect Daft Punk are under contract to Disney for any of their new music presented live - perhaps they don't want to play it live and bankroll Disney (at a guess).

That would I think make it unlikely Daft Punk will be playing anywhere live this summer.

...It's just a shame they can't go out on the road off Disney's radar under a fake name and present some new live material - that would be great!

Unless Daft Punk have some new material i don't see the point of them touring, most the tracks off the Tron soundtrack would be hard to translate into a live show IMO, so they'd really need new stuff otherwise it would just be the same set as in 07. It wouldn't be outwith the realms of posibility for Daft Punk to have a whole new album and new live set just waiting to be released on the world. Time will tell.

sat where I'm sat, and knowing what's gone on in the background about 'denying' that TTT aren't DP, I'm taking that statement with a huge pinch of salt.

Daft Punk's agent approached us last week about the story, and said on the phone 'it's not Daft Punk'. I asked him to give me that in writing, but we received no denial in writing - instead we were merely pointed at a changed bio about who TTT were.

I suspect that that statement you've linked to is made up from a telephone contact with that publication, much as I had.

and strangely, Arena Sound - the festival who have booked TTT - have just put out this press release.....

“In order to reply to the accusations from the Daft Punk manager, we would like to clarify that from Arenal Sound nobody has used the name of Daft Punk in order to promote the Festival and we haven´t false pretenses. We have never linked TTT to DP. Internet , blogs, fans, social networks and many others have linked them. Why three months later of TTT appears on internet they haven´t said nothing about this before?? Why haven´t they said before that TTT are not linked to DP?... The thing is that we have booked The Third Twin and we have no idea if they are or not Daft Punk so let´s wait and we will check at Arenal Sound Festival who they are and for the moment each one can believe whatever they want or what they prefer. The real thing is that music from TTT it´s amazing and we have a French duo who is going to be one of the best in the world. “

For them to claim "we would like to clarify that from Arenal Sound nobody has used the name of Daft Punk" is laughable. We have a press release here which uses DP's name, and which as good as says they are DP, while perhaps saying nothing quite as clear as a simple "TTT are DP". ;)

Even when thet're claiming that they're not using Daft Punk's name they areb still using it. It's like they're still implying that it could be and you should get a ticket to find out. I don't really know if they're playing a very smart game or a very silly one.

Yep, me neither.

But the most telling thing from where I'm sat is the fact that Daft Punk's agent hasn't given a categorical denial that it's not them - something which would have been exceedingly easy for him to do if it's not DP.

I think Coachella gets announced in the next couple of weeks. Lots of rumours they're playing there and if they are then it would perhaps give a better impression of there touring plans this summer.

    • Same’s happened at MSG recently with Rush and Phish alternating nights. I guess each band has its own unique production so their riggers will be kept busy
    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
