A lot of the regular hippis that have been going for years and know Eavis since the 70s. They either have some role to play within the festival, or ME makes sure they have a chance/ know about ticket day...I always see regular faces and wonder how on earth they managed it...They help each other man x

I don't know I she was a hippy but she looked very happy with her stick and bag..

Heres a quote I like from hippy.com

"Our society only permits you one or two weeks a year of freedom to pursue your own agenda. The rest of the time we are slaves to the system. Hippies reject the 9 to 5 lifestyle and therefore are objects of ridicule by those whose lives run by the clock. Programmed people are jealous and resent the freedom we possess. The unmitigated freedom that hippies represent is the greatest threat to any system in which control equals power"

Hi, I class myself as a hippie and if I peddle fast enough I can get my PC to work for a little while. Long enough to get a ticket yesterday. I do not smell I have a bath after every Glastonbury. I used to have long hair but now afraid not. I still believe that Love is the answer, BUT, sometimes it is difficult with the attitude of some people today. One thing that happened yesterday that really made me happy was the amount of people helping each other get tickets. Thats Love.

I hope not to many of you have thrown up over your PC :P

I doubt many "true" hippies exist these days anyway - it's become a commodified lifestyle choice IMO, easy to buy the trappings, but very few people are prepared to actually make the effort to go the distance.

Besides, the hippies got it all wrong....they had an international movement which could have made vast social changes, but they all retreated into the mountains and smoked themselves silly - not that there's a problem with that :)

There were only 1,500 hippies at the first Glastonbury festival, probably same number these days, it's just there are an additional 183,500 people swelling the crowd.

    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
    • This Isaac wood news has dropped right out of left field. Great to hear he feels up to doing live stuff again    what will he play? Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
