Weather thread 2011

The NetWeather forecast is more than I could have hoped.

I have never seen this much confidence for a long range forecast from any respected source. Furthermore, they've explained why they're so confident unlike the sites that periodically have a go at the Met Office in The Daily Hate.

Just to say -- Stuart Rampling, who composed that Netweather summer forecast, posts as Glacier Point on the NW forums and his technical knowledge of pressure patterns and synoptic movements is pretty damned good, as is his recent forecast record -- his long term forecasts for the winter and spring just gone were not far off spot on ... we can but hope his confidence isn't misplaced and that devillish details don't screw things up.

On the basis of his measured/balanced/cautious posting record on NW though (which I've seen and followed), I'd say his confidence is very high to stick his neck out so much as that!

Next step will be Jackone's Glasto-specific forecasts :O -- I'll be requesting that he initiates same over the coming days, unless someone else here has already done that??

Thanks for posting this B) .

I entered this thread for the first time in months tonight :O , intending to fill the gap with that NW link if you and others hadn't yet beaten me to it.

I'm trying to maintain the necessary 'cautiously' into my 'optimistic' :lol:B):P

.

More soon folks!

"Within the summer, we expect the core of the hot and settled weather to occur during June and July, particularly June which we think will be very pleasant with high pressure in charge across much of western Europe and the UK"

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
