swede
Not meant to be a sexist rant. - Just simply can't seem to enjoy any band with a female lead singer. Think the closest I can get is Arcade Fire. Love Arcade fire but she's not really the lead singer. When I see a band like Paramore it just doesn't work for me. It's just not quite right. Can anyone name any good bands with female lead singers? Is this a bloke thing or is it just a me thing?

Dave The Hedgehog
To be honest I think I might just be sexist though, as quite a few of my favourite bands have male singers with very high voices - e.g. Sigur Ros, Aereogramme, William Hut, Unified Theory, A-ha. Lithium05
Off the top of my head: Nightwish - Play arenas all around Europe, Sell out academies over here in no time at all. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Third from top at Reading last year Within Temptation - Played high on second and mid-mainstage at Download, again big in Europe Sonic Boom Six - Up and comers, but quality act. The Distillers - not around anymore but had some quality tunes Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - Were awesome supporting Green Day at Wembley. Arch Enemy - Pretty big in heavier circles The Donnas - Some good tunes, never made it big though Garbage - played second from top at Download in 2005, not been around much since Evanescence - Ok, not great, but Amy Lee's voice is more powerful so works better than Hayley William's in a sub-headlining spot at a festival (Download 2007). If there is nothing for the OP among those, he's got issues that go deeper than this! Edited September 22, 2010 by Lithium05

spwan-of-the-devil
And I should have remembered Lacuna Coil! They were in a mental blind spot! I had a vague memory of a female singer joining another band onstage at Download one year, turns out it was Christina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil joining Apocalyptica! Not sure how I forgot them!
