Do you know that in the UK there's 4 Catholic priests with criminal convictions for child sex abuse - that means rape btw - who are still Catholic priests?

One of those was sentenced to 4 years in prison in 1997 and is still a priest today.

He isnt and was never a Nazi. There is no way anyone can realistically pin that one on him.

However.

This should not be funded by the taxpayer, the catholic church is quite capable of affording this from their own coffers. And they could then charge whatever they want for entry, £100 would be great.

I just hope that the protesters make as much noise and peaceful dispruption as they possibly can to show this church that they no longer have relevancy in this country. They may have a massive global sheepdom, but religion is losing its relevance every single day in this country. Both my kids are raised atheist, as are the kids of most of my friends. My 6 year old knows there is no god, and that the bible is a story. My daughter scores very highly in RE classes at school, but is equally under no illusion that when she dies - thats it.

The "agressive atheism" of which the cardinal speaks is long overdue in my humble opinion.

how can people say this so srongly? chances are you might be right, but why ridicule millions of people with this stance? if you were saying similar from another religious point of view, you'd be called a bigot. so why's it fine for atheists to ridicule all religions? if it's not for you, then fine.

Do the religious have any problem in doing the same (which you call ridiculing) to those who don't have religious belief?

Religions go far further than any free-thinking atheist. They proscribe in their scriptures eternal damnation for anyone who disagrees.

It's the religious who are the bigots.

Us atheists are using a consistent rationale, which is something beyond any religious person.

he is bringing his kids up to believe there is no god, and others bring their kids up to believe there is a god.

it's just different beliefs and kids can make their own minds up when they're older anyway.

i was brought up to believe in god but when i was old enough to really think about it, i didn't believe in god or any of the silly jesus stories. i would class myself as atheist now.

I dont give a shit about being called a twat really. The word homophobic was never really much used until when? 70s/80s/90s?

If it means that I`m anti-gay and hate gay people---then it is a wholly wrong word to use to describe me.

What exactly would you say my errors are? It is not an error of mine that I feel uncomfortable re The Million Pound Drop post.

It is plain to see, on this very forum the huge differences between the likes of me at 52 and those in their 20s. And of course it is. I dont have the same views and ideals as my daughters.

He reads mine/ I read his... and for sure nobody wins--its just an excercise in trying to get the upperhand with the written word-- ie impossible.

I post on numerous forums and am generally well received. Sometimes i post irrelevent shite and other times,hopefully balanced and thoughtful stuff.

Anyway, bottom line is that I am not homophobic,racist or a twat come to think of it.

THE Queen will today have soup and sandwiches at her Edinburgh home with an insane German criminal she met off a plane.
