MCR about to reveal their new album

It looks like MCR are about to release their new album as their website has changed to a load of cryptic messages on a radio http://www.mychemicalromance.com/ and their official Facebook is going haywire with like a dozen comments every minute since the weekend. http://www.facebook.com/MyChemicalRomance?ref=ts#!/MyChemicalRomance?v=wall&ref=ts I know last time they weren't received well by a minority of Slayer fans but they managed to win the crowd over and the sort of hate ship has sailed on a bit.

I reckon they could do sub headline like Paramore or maybe top spot depending on how this album does. What do you think?

According to Gerard Way... their new album is completely different to The Black Parade...

Alot more (and I can't belive I'm about to say this) Punk

I have a strong suspicion they where booked for sometime on the GnR day this year... but the whole drummer thing made them pull out.

I do think they will appear somewhere next year... and I ain't that fussed, I do quite like them.

Interesting.

If they head in a (sort of) Punk-orientated direction in this record, as (sort of) preluded by their cover of Desolation row, it could be an interesting idea. They would then have the depth and the musical variety e.g. with their first real mainstream album being the soundtrack to the "Emo revolution" of the early to mid 2000's, then their second mainstream album being an overblown, pompous Queen-esque concept album (in a good way). A Punk styled album, that sells well, would justify a headlining slot.

People may not like the idea of it. But they would have the support to headline, might have the musical depth to to pull it off and do have the right sort of cultural importance to justify the slot.

Personally however, I would prefer to have The Cure headline the festival with a two hour slot and MCR subheadlining. I'm not holding my breath though.

I think a killer single and a number one album will most likley comfirm My Chem as a Headline act. They have already done arena tours, have a massive fan base and The Black Parade was a huge success whether you liked it or not! I do believe they have the potential to headline.
