Not really been weighing myself too much, i know after glasto last year that i must have put on a fair bit of weight having gone up a couple of notches on the belt, stop going to the gym and eating shit all the time. I think i possibly put on 6+ kgs

So my target (again) for the next 8 months is to lose my beer belly.

For the last couple of weeks I have been going down the gym mainly working on cardio for about an hour. I think i have aleady worked off 2 of those additioal Kgs.

I have also started to take green tea capsules, vit B and CoEnzymeQ10 once a day. I took these last year and think they had a possitive effect on the amount of energy i had :)

My main issue is eating shit especially when I'm not hungry, i tend to eat when im bored. I need to stop this.

Good going everyone! :D

Lost 1lb this week which finally takes me under 12st! Whether or not it stays off is another matter though.....seem to have a pattern of losing some & then putting some back on at the moment. Finding it really hard to apply myself to being healthy with so much tough stuff going on in my life. Will keep on trying though!

Well done everyone! smile.gif We'll all be skinny minnies in the Glasto sunshine! I think we should have a big meet where we all bring an ENORMOUS cake each and sit all afternoon scoffing our faces! laugh.gif

5 weeks in and i'm 13.5 lbs down smile.gif I'm having a night off tonight though and i'm going to eat one of my fairy cakes when they come out of the oven!

One Fairy cake is ok, you can eat what you want with WW within reason and counting of points... If one fairy cake means you have to take a night off your healthy eating regime I am glad I am not doing whatever diet you are doing

Well, to be fair I don't really eat much cake! (honest! LOL) I just tend to bake stuff and take it into work! its my grand plan to make their bums bigger to make mine look smaller! The 4 cakes came about from - urm - munchies which is the main reason I very rarely partake in anything that might give me munchies! unsure.gif I don't have that much of a sweet tooth - Thank God there was no cheese in the fridge else that would have gone too!

I don't really 'do' any type of diet other than calorie counting and I am probably still within maintainance calories even after the 4 fairy cakes! LOL

I shall try the pineapple thing next time I decide on a whim to make cakes - although my warped logic will probably tell me its OK to eat 8 instead! Hahahaha

some tips for the fellas :-

- Workout with weights 3 times a week.

- Drink about a gallon of water each day.

- Eat at least 1g protein / lb of lean body mass a day.

- Eat some fruit, veggies/salad, and some essential fatty acids (EFAs) every day.

- Above that eat whatever you want, preferably a wide variety of foods.

- Adjust your food intake so that the desired rate of weight change is maintained.

- The rate of weight change should not be above 3lbs/week, 1-2lbs/week is recommended.

IMO, any diet (resp. cutting method) that follows the above rules is optimal for cutting, any further details will not have significant effect on body composition. If you already have a meal plan, just check if these rules are followed and adjust if not. If you have never done a cutting diet, it's always better to start with more calories and reduce slowly until the desired rate of weight change is maintained. For measuring progress and adjusting food intake, follow these rules:

- Weigh yourself once a week, always at the same time (e.g. right after waking up).

- Don't panic if your weight stays the same or even goes up for one or two weeks.

- If your weight does not go down for more than two weeks, slightly reduce calories.

- If your rate of weight loss is above the recommended value, slightly increase calories.

- The change in daily calories from those adjustments should not exceed 500 cals.

- After adjustment, stay on the new value for at least three weeks before adjusting again.

If you stay patient, you will not have to adjust very often. On my last cutting diet, I only had to adjust one time during the whole diet. With more experience, you will not have to count calories anymore, but as a beginner it is probably a good idea.

Since many questions revolve around further details of cutting diets, here is a list of factors that I believe to be of insignificant effect for body composition:

- Cardio and fat burners,

- Meal timing and meal frequency,

- Protein / Carb / Fat distribution throughout the day,

- carb / fat ratio,

- Sodium intake,

- Moderate alcohol intake,

- Use of supplements resp. meal replacements,

- "Clean" food vs. Junk food (sugar and saturated fat).

All these factors should be used as tools to make the diet as convenient as possible. Many people e.g. have an easier time dieting with eating more calories and doing cardio or taking fat burners. Some people like myself have an easier time without cardio and fat burners. In my experience, the end result (body composition improvement) is not significantly influenced. Another example is protein supplements. I e.g. use whey powder to meet my daily protein intake out of convenience. I could just as well get all my protein from other sources. A third example is meal frequency and timing. This tool should be used to reduce hunger as much as possible throughout the day. For some people that means eating 6 times a day, for others it means eating only once or twice a day.

Last but not least, here are a few psychological tips and tricks to easily stick to the diet:

- It is possible that you will not "see" changes in the mirror until your bodyfat gets rather low. Don't panic, as long as the rules are followed, everything is right on track.

- If at all, only assess your physique right after a workout. At other times it's too dependent on water retention, and the mind will play tricks on you (telling you your progress sucks, etc.).

- Have a cheat day (pig-out day) once in a while, where you eat what you want. I had one every week on my last diet. Don't feel guilty about it, as long as the rules are still followed, everything is allright.

- Don't take the whole thing too serious. It's better to not care about it so much. See it more as being the coach of another person, rather than yourself.

Good luck!

Thanks, if a person sticks with it and is determined enough they can do well at WW if a person cheats and doesn't write or mark the points they eat up, then they will not lose weight, it sounds awful but every week there are people at my weigh in saying "I don't know how I gained"...if they had a spy camera on them all week I bet it would be a different story. I have only gained twice in 9 1/2 months and both times I told the leader Pauline, as I stepped on the scales, "I expect a gain I ate over my points this week" You can easily miss the odd sweet or crisp but if you know what you ate was over 1/2 a point then you need to mark it down, the only person you are cheating is yourself, I tell myself this very often, it's the hardest thing to do in the world losing weight, giving up smoking was a piece of piss compared to this new healthy regime, but I can and I will!!

Lost 3lb since last weighing in so total loss now 5 Stone 8lb only 6lb to lose to make a total of 6 stone, which I though was going to be achievable before Christmas but with comfort eating and the Pro Points arrrgghh! I have my doubts :(

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
