yea spinning classes always seem pretty full here, I guess you have to book like put your name down for it? or is it just first come first served kinda basis

Yoga's hard from what I've heard, I'm sure when I do yoga I'll see just how rubbish my flexibility is lol

Hi Glasto get-fitters

just been reading through the last few pages of this thread and am amazed by some of your success stories - well done all of you for being so determined!

unfortunately my own plan has not been going so well - since first starting to take up more exercise and think about glasto i've actually gained weight instead of losing - i've actually put on 12lbs in the last month (how is this even possible?!).

so i'm suddenly feeling desperate and looking for help - i've had success with slimming world before but feel like that's too much of a 'slow burner' if i'm going to be able to walk around the festival all day without rubbing my chubby thighs raw so i'm afer something a bit more drastic, do any of you have any suggestions? is weightwatchers targeted at a 2lb a week loss as well? I have tried very low carb in the past but as a pescatarian found it just too restrictive - my energy levels got so low that i found exercise really difficult (not good glastonbury preparation!).

i cycle to work intermittently so am going to try and do that every day from now til G (11 miles each way - i live in london). i've just started swimming so am going to try and do that 3 times a week at least, and am starting a weekly zumba class next week. was thinking salad for lunch and stir fry (quorn) most days but beyond that i'm a bit stuck.

any advice much appreciated - when i got on the scales this morning and realised i'd gained another 4lbs in a week i actually had a little cry :(. figure if anyone can help you guys can!!

Thinking about tomorrows weigh in already, anyone that has time say a prayer for me lol, can't face another gain when I am working so hard at losing :(

thanks so much for your words funkyfairy and dvjj - you two are so inspiring! and best of luck with the weigh in dvjj, it sounds like you've been working so hard, you deserve it to go well!

I don't think i can bear to go on any of the food replacement schemes, as much as everyone says they work - it just seems to unatural to me and i can't see how it will help me to be healthier in the long run. think i'll just have to try and do additional exercise as a boost before the festival (and hopefully it will help me feel better around the site as well).

so far today: granary toast with peanut butter; squash; diet coke; apple; salad (lettuce, radish, cucumber, watercress, little bit of light caesar dressing) with tuna (mix with vinegar and a little mayo); apple

rode my bike to work and out to an event this morning - approx 13 miles so far. another 11 mile home later. hopefully get chance to squeeze a swim in later

planning on having quorn stirfy for tea with a little sesame oil, lots of chilli/lime/ginger/soy etc. although apparently we might be going to the pictures so that may go out the window!

just re-read the liquid suggestions actually and had forgotten about slimfast - i can't afford one of the 'have all your meals delivered to your door' options, and i can't even begin to think about what it's like to eat nothing at all but milkshakes, but if i remember rightly slimfast is 2 milkshakes and one normal meal, right? hmmm.....*heads off to slimfast website*

thanks for re-opening my mind on the subject :D

morning all

hope the weigh in went ok dvjj - or hope it does go well if it's not until later!

good day so far although i'm a little bit zonked. an update since i last posted (no need to respond, just feel it will help me to make it public, hope no-one minds that):

.

at the pictures: one carrot cut in sticks, with some houmous (approx 100g?). a cereal bar

at home after: 3 egg omelette with artichoke heart, fresh chilli and a little stilton (approx 40g)

i also went and joined weightwatchers after work! never done it before but it seems relatively simple - i've just been setting myself up online this morning.

today: oats so simple with half skimmed milk and half water

cup of bouillon stock to drink

no added sugar squash

got a tuna and cucumber sandwich for lunch (granary bread, no mayo), more carrot sticks, probably an apple

cycled to work - 11 miles in 50 mins (can't seem to get it much quicker than that, too many traffic lights along the embankment!)

swam 24 lengths

a question for you all - i don't usually eat before i leave the house as i'm not hungry, so didn't have breakfast until about an hour after my bike ride/swim. does this matter? would it be better to eat something before? i would need to eat again afterwards....

also, are cycling and swimming good activities for losing weight? or do they just tone up? i don't have a gym membership anymore but sure i could manage some very short runs or similar if it would help more...

thanks BS x

haha, indeed! well at least i've had my moment of realisation in time to get into a bikini in september (hopefully) B)

thanks for the info on eating times - i've heard so many different things. i remember this thread a couple of years ago somebody said that running/whatever first thing in the morning on an empty stomach would burn more fat than eating first, as you'd just be burning your breakfast off otherwise. but then other people say that your metabolism doesn't get going in the morning until you eat something....gargh!

good to hear about the problems after the liquid diets - gives me a good reason not to put myself through that! it does seem like awfully little to eat in a day (but then maybe that's why i'm two stone overweight :lol)

hope yous dont mind a newbie stepping in to try this! :)

i would like to lose a stone for glasto, im exacty 11 stone at the moment, going to start doing alot of walking ( i live on the coast so its more pleasant to walk), but i cant go to the gym as much as i would like to as a couple of years ago i had 6 broken bones, and messed up my leg alot, blah blah, basically cant bend my knee correctly, i am going to go back swimming next week, how many times a week is this recommended?

Me and my friend are going to join zumba next week i think, i did dance for 14 years before my leg messed up, so il just try do what i can there.

Its food thats the hard part for me, which meats are best to eat and which way to be cooked? i like fruit and veg so il make sure i fill myself up on them. I just get baddd cravings for chocolate! ha.

Do we think its possible for me to lose that weight in time for glasto??

ohh also, whats the best way to lose weight in arms? my arms went incrediby muscley from being on crutches for 2 years, once i came off them they just turned into fat :( if i used weights wouldnt that just turn the fat into muscle again?

:)
