Snyder's current Batman stuff is mindblowing - and I wouldnt even be the biggest fan of the character.

I'm really enjoying his run, loved the Black Mirror arc and the current Death In The Family is fucking brillaint. He's become one of those writers that I will buy simply because his name is attached.

Some of my best work in football mags was in those years! Football memorabilia is worth money 50 years down the line - if it's mint. Look at the demand for Charles Buchan's Football Monthly - check this site: http://www.soccerbilia.co.uk/

Edited to add: Bloody hell one of the mags I did (Striker) is on there at £3.95 an issue - I had everyone of them until I moved house, plus masses of SuperReds, Liverpool Monthlies and the like

I think I have a few Strikers from that period as well, I might save them until I become a grandad then

Agreed! And I'm not even really that interested in Batman. I've read all the classics and some less than classics.

The aul pull list is getting bigger and bigger at this stage. 23 different ongoings and trade-waiting on rakes of stuff.

The last week for examply just blinding. Saga for example - HOW GOOD is that book?!

Anyone who likes/liked reading comics should give "Saga" a go. Its glorious in ever way.

What style is it? What's it similar to? Does it use any traditional characters?

I'm going to repeat my recommendation of Sweetooth. It's overtaken Walking Dead as my favourite currently running series now.

Romeo & Juliet meets Star Wars scripted by Tarantino.

They are both fucking crazy. Morrison winds me up though, while Moore just entertains me (mostly). The preachy self-introduction to the first Animal Man trade is disgusting and made me want to slap Morrison. After that I don't think I can bring myself to buy another trade by him, despite how good the best of his work can get.

Moore is a creep. He has a twisted obsession with using rape as a plot device.

However, he's a far more consistent writer than Morrison. Morrison's peak matches Moore's, but he spaces out, gets incredibly referential to things way beyond the current run and diverts into tangents that are exaggeratedly weird for the sake of trying to show himself as superior.

Edit: Jump said it better.

Morrison has an endearing level of tenderness and sensitivity that comes through in his writing. I fail to see any of this in Moore's work. It seems to me so devoid of warmth so as to make Miller's work look like something Bob Zemekis cooked up.

Yes, Morrison is an egomaniac. But he is giving of himself. Supergods is a profoundly honest work.

I think Moore is a pretty sad and self deluded shambles at this stage.

Like the endless preaching about animal rights that pervades through most of his work?

Swamp Thing has more bittersweet tenderness than I've read in everything Morrison's done put together. Hell Neonomicon has some sensitivity and that's just plain twisted.

The Moore vs Morrison argument would be a lot better if it was about which one is crazier rather than which one is the better writer.

I'm actually buying the collected Swamp Thing editions at the moment.

Both are batshit. Gaiman's better than either.

Have fun with that. I love Swamp Thing so much.

I've read 50/60% of Sandman. First 5 trades. Dunno why but it never really clicked. Its one of the only "canon" runs that I've only half of on the shelf. Normally if I get the first trade/hardcover I'll get them all. But Sandman just sits there sneering at me every day.

Bar "Good Omens", which I realise is only partly written by him, and the first half of "Sandman" I don't think I've read anything else by Gaiman. His stuff doesnt grab me, lads, sorry. Don't have the patience for it or something.

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
