SeeTickets (A positive thread)

I posted on another thread that i get a lot of tickets through See. Had tickets for other festivals and countless gigs; no problem whatsoever. Even in the last few years, i've never had any reason why i should complain about their service with Glasto tickets.

But for what has happened with the outsourcing to DX, and the issues I've had in sorting out the pick-up, (note pick-up - going out of my way to get something i've paid a charge to be delivered), then I'm sorry, I will be bitching about them!

150,000+ tickets to dish out for glasto, there are bound to be a few glitches. But they are the tiny minority. I have no complaints. Although 2007 the first year of photos on tickets, mine were delivered on the Tuesday during the week of the festival. But I was dealt with in a really friendly manner and was told in no uncertain terms I would have them before Wednesday.

I've used them quite a bit and never had an issue. The DX delivery guys seemed a bit haphazard this year but I don't think that's See's fault.

I'm 50/50 on this. I got my tickets, so I should be happy. But I think I have a right to expect better:

- Booking day continues to be a shambles.

The website hasn't the capacity for the job. It's 2010. The technology does exist to handle 150,000 requests in a minute. Companies have the resources and the technology to let you use 1000 servers for a day or an hour, then stop paying when you're done. See should partner with someone like Amazon, eBay or IBM, and then they would be able to claim "we sold 150,000 tickets in 60 seconds", get in the Guinness Book of Records, for a PR coup.

- email notification is dodgy

I got an email from See containing information that was basically untrue (that my ticket had been dispatched to me, special delivery). A week later, I got one from DX saying it would be delivered to me that day. That part was true.

So like I say, happy my ticket arrived in the end. But far from delighted with the service as a whole.

My other complaint is why do they wait so long before sending the tickets out? For many events, not just Glasto we book many months in advance but the tickets generally only come in the last few weeks. I'm sure it's the fault of the promoters (not See) but I just don't understand why they do it. Does anyone know?

Never had any problems with Seetickets - tickets always arrived when they were supposed to (i live in a flat so leaving a card if someone isnt home isnt always an option)

This year DX delivered when they said they would - emails arrived in time telling me when to expect delivery

All in all SeeTickets have been ok to me (apart from the nightmare come ticket day but i have grown to live with that)

While we're being sychophantic, though, can I put a word in for Stargreen and Ticketline. These two are fleas on the side of Seetickets and Ticketmasters enormous rumps, but they compete head to head on most gigs and offer a far more personal buying experience.

High fives from me....just put the phone down from a cheeky chappy at See as I needed to order an extra car park ticket. Nice to have abit of banter with him on a cold, damp Tuesday night B)

Used them plenty in the past and always delivered as promised.

These two are fleas on the side of Seetickets and Ticketmasters enormous rumps, but they compete head to head on most gigs and offer a far more personal buying experience. I love dealing with them - especially for standing tickets where theirs are as good as - and the same price as - the majors. Plus they're often easier to get through to when the other sites are log-jammed. And if you've ever been to Stargreen's shop/office in Argyll Street, you'll wonder hwo they ever manage to offer such a good comprehensive service from what is basically a front room. They don't even have their own toilet - they have to use the Argyll Arms next door!

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
