Dizzee Rascal to replace U2 if bonos still ill!

Absolute +1 for this!!! especially the stop paragraphing sentences part! :P

DIZZEE RASCAL has been asked to step up to the plate if the U2 frontman is not well enough to honour his band's Friday night headlining slot on June 25. Has he? Has he really?

Organiser MICHAEL EAVIS has also put in a call to COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN to see if the lads are available. Source? Also stop capitalizing names pls.

They are back in the studio after their Viva La Vida world tour but are weighing up the logistics of playing Glasto. Fact followed by a guess, wicked.

I can't help feeling it could be a blessing in disguise if grime star Dizzee, who currently comes before U2 on the Friday night bill, gets to close the evening. "I can't help but feeling it could be a blessing in disguise if 'grime star' Dizzee..." This is the gayest thing I've ever read. Also what's with referring to him on a first name basis?

The rapper - who ripped off his top at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival in Wales at the weekend to show how toned he is from kickboxing - is a big enough man for the job. Leave your man crush out of this

He has the tunes and charisma to light up Glasto on its 40th anniversary. Hits including Fix Up Look Sharp, Dirtee Disco and Bonkers would bring the Friday night to an epic end. Apart from it absolutely wouldn't.

Bono had emergency spinal surgery in Munich on Friday after injuring his back in rehearsals for their 360° world tour. Possibly the only slightly bit of factual information in the article

He is now recovering in Germany under the care of Bayern Munich FC's club medic Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, who has treated the likes of JURGEN KLINSMANN, RONALDO, STEVEN GERRARD and MICHAEL OWEN as well as marathon star PAULA RADCLIFFE. Again with the caps, :P MARATHON STAR PAULA RADCLIFFE?!

U2 have had to postpone the start of the latest US leg of their tour, which was to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 3. Oh another fact :P

And they are expected to announce later this week that they will bow out of Glastonbury. No need for a new paragraph

That would leave their fans very disappointed. The band's anthemic rock is tailor-made for the large crowds drawn to Glasto's main Pyramid Stage. A band not showing up for a gig would leave their fans disappointed? Who'd a' thought it.

But I'd love to see Dizzee given the chance to shine at the Somerset festival.Stop

Last year he played an incredible Saturday afternoon set to a full field.Paragraphing

It included a tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, who had just died.Sentences.

This year, Dizzee has become even bigger, with major shows in March at the Manchester MEN Arena and London's O2, for which he teamed up with LILY ALLEN.Zzzz

Meanwhile, I have discovered exactly how Bono hurt his back. He was standing too close toTHE EDGE. <Sound of no one laughing> Think you missed a bit of the joke there..

What a shit article.

I love the Flaming Lips and have seen them several times indoors and outdoors at festivals, including Glastonbury. They're a perfect headline band at a festival & most certainly at Glastonbury for all that they represent about music and they have a great back catalogue. Plus a great stage show. However, I can understand it if the younger festival-goers are oblivious to their charms, whether that's because they're Radio 1 centric or just because they're seen as an 'old' band.

But: this is how it is MEANT to be.

An 18 year old listening to Orbital today is like me listening to Doctor Feelgood when I was 18.

Now, I can enthuse about Dr Feelgood *now*, but at the time anything made before 1983 was boring old farts' music. "The Rock'n'Roll Years" fodder.

18 year old *should* be into new music that older people don't undersand; deride even.

I remember my aunt saying that Public Enemy was "just a load of men shouting".

This is a pretty juvenile response. The Sun and other tabloid journos are pretty much "on message" when it comes to showbiz.

Scoops especially in the fields of showbiz and entertainment reporting are rare. Information and "exclusives" are routinely leaked out to editors such as Gordon Smart, to generate hype, and publicity.

In the context of this story, I think the festival organisers have briefed GS that if they don't get Coldplay, they will probably push Dizzee up the bill. GS then puts out the story that HE has predicted this series of events, neglecting to mention the phonecalls made between GFL and himself. Thus, in a couple of days when U2 announce they can't play Glasto, and Dizzee or Coldplay(most likely Dizzee) are announced as headlining, GS will claim credit for the "scoop".

A lot of people are under the misconception that Red Tops just print bollocks. True a lot is, but in most cases they are bang on as they are so heavily briefed. I would be very surprised if U2 play, and not at all surprised if Dizzee headlines.

Personally I don't mind, I like U2 and Dizzee, but wouldn't necessarily pay to see them.

Oi I'm 18 (nearly) and I've been known to listen to Orbital. Not a lot admittedly, but I know who they are. I like old music as well as the newer stuff but obviously a lot of people my age don't really share the same tastes as myself.

This reminds me of when my girlfriend said she couldn't see how there was anything more to Mercury Rev than there was to Coldplay.

Fortunately she backed down from that position after a couple more listens.

You have to look beyond the happy-clappiness.

"Dizzie Rascal to replace U2"

Maybe I'm being silly, but simply bumping everyone up the bill, to cover for the missing headline act, wouldn't really be a replacement. That's just removing the headliner. I'd feel rather short-changed.

I really hope a different band will be drafted in to replace U2. Ideally world-class headliner material.

Short notice, I know, but I'm sure the organisers can do it! ;-)

And one of my schoolfriends in 1989 listened to nothing but Hendrix. And yeah, I wore out a Telstar James Brown compilation LP.

But the point is that a decent number of younger people *SHOULD* be listening to stuff that bewilders 30-somethings. This is why I love the idea of Donk, and early Enter Shikari, etc. Couldn't actually listen to them for more than 2 minutes at a time...

We were lucky to spend our youths in a golden era of music. Unfortunately for 'the kids of today', we are in the middle of an era dominated by utter shite at the moment.

There are simply no current bands who have just 2 or so albums out that could headline the pyramid stage. In the mid 90s there were loads.

please please please, not Dizzee. He's nowhere near 'big' enough to headline the Pyramid stage....Dance tent definitely, Other Stage, perhaps. He's ok in small doses, but 1hr 45 mins just to hear Bonkers as an encore - are you serious ?! Last year, that Michael Jackson tribute was truly cringe worthy and his two mates on stage constantly going 'yeah yeah' in a rap stylee made me long for rolf harris calmness :P

Flaming Lips should either swap, or draft someone of quality in......but please dear god don't let it be Stereophonics (remember 2002 anyone :P)

I'm still hopeful Bonio will be ok, say what you like about them, you know they're going to put one hell of show on.....and you'll know nearly all the songs :P
