A good friend of mine has her ticket. I got it for her on my debit card and she paid me cash. She now cannot go because of work commitments and I did not get her insurance. It's £195 down the drain.

Should she just take the hit and do nothing ?

Or What is the best way to try and get her her money back ?

Should she try and get face value back on Ebay ? and what does she risk if doing this ?

Could her selling it on Ebay have any effect on my tickets as they were paid with the same card, or am I just being paranoid ?

Does she offer it for sale (face value) on a forum ?

What would you do ?

Hmmm....I would put out ambiguous feelers on a related internet forum, in the hope of receiving pms through which something could be negotiated. Oh hang on, no...that's what you would do :P

You aren't going to get money back for it now, I don't support touting, but frankly I wouldn't blame her for selling on. It's too much money to throw away in my eyes and there are still plenty of people who missed out who would be deserving of a ticket at face value (or less)

Sorry for your friend but why didn't she book the time off work it is not as though the tickets came out yesterday. I would advise against selling on ebay though if she does your ticket should not be affected. The best thing that you're friend can do is fall ill on Wednesday

Why do you have to do anything?

You got her the ticket, she has paid up...its on her to get things sorted. Sounds like a lame excuse that she can go but she is willing to give up the ticket and £200 just because her boyfriend isn't going.

The reason for my rant is that she has prevented someone else a legitimate ticket because of her bad planning and I have experienced this before with a couple of my friends who have let me down last minute.

In my view I would say something along the lines of, its your ticket, do what you wish with it but I have done my bit so its now on you!!! :P

Absolutely! It's good of you to be concerned about this, but you've done your bit as a friend, and the decision is now in her hands. If she's that obstinate that she won't go without her boyfriend, then let her figure out what to do with the ticket.

Have you got a picture of her, if so post it. Then we can judge the chances of someone else being able to go as her :P

Seriously though, its not your problem anymore. Although I probably would let them get their own tickets in the future

Truth is it is'nt even her own work commitments, it's her boyfriend who cannot go (his boss is going to Glasto so needs him at work, so sickies that weekend for him are out of the question) and no matter how much I try to convince her (I was gonna set everything up for them, they just needed to bring sleeping bags) she just won't come without him.

She has never been before so does not know what she is missing. She has made up her mind and that is that.

Her decision, her loss. She owes you £200.

I was going to ask whether she had general travel insurance. But no insurance would pay up in these circumstances. It's not that she can't go. It's that she's choosing not to.

You sound like you have tried your best JodiB, try too hard and you will only make yourself mad with fury and goodness knows where your relationship goes after that...... let it be, she has paid you for the ticket, I would leave it there.

How about you, are you going with other friends/beau or were you relying on this friend to come with?

Let her have a look at the posts on this thread which is all about her and she will see how the majority of people feel, may change her mind in the end, a bit of outside opinions can sometimes hit home....

But whatever you do, do not try and sell her ticket on, its not your responsibility, it will only cause you too much worry!!

Just a tip - if they're all on one order and you're going to try any funny business, ring customer services and ask to split the order, tell them her ticket needs to go to her address not yours etc. No guarantees this will safeguard you but must surely help..

Like I said ...She has never been to Glastonbury before. If she had it would be a different story and I am 100% sure she would be coming.

I have told her it the best 5 days on earth, a life changing experience, blah blah blah. I was gonna set them up with all camping equipment, chairs, lights, blow-up bed, Quechua Base and Pop-up XL 3 man, everything except sleeping bags. I could not have tried any harder for them.

Nothing else I can do will make her come, I cannot "big up" Glastonbury any more than I already have.

It's her loss but I would like to make it someone elses gain.

You should create a thread on a Glastonbury related internet forum explaining your plight and wait for people wanting a ticket to contact you. :P

Or sell it to a friend.

Otherwise there are people asking to buy tickets on the road into Glasto. We got £50 for a spare ticket last year. Not much I know but something.

I am going with my partner and other friends so no loss for me really. I am a little concerned that she could do something silly on Ebay and get all our tickets cancelled, but I think that is unlikely really, different address just same payment method, so the connection it our tickets is quite remote I hope. I got her ticket in the first re-sale but got the mine in October.

Legally the ticket should just be wasted but is it fair to deny someone else the chance to go ?

    • Around £400 this time, possibly slightly over.   Think what you've said sounds about right
    • Glastonbury 2025 general admission tickets cost £378.50 (including 5 booking fee ) plus £10.25 postage . what are the thoughts on next years price ? ...... im going for £395 plus postage so they can say its still under £400 ..... but I think the deposit will be £100 up from £75
    • 100% doing Knebworth, said it for a while.   Celtic, Etihad, Knebworth been signed & sealed for a number of months (I had it confirmed categorically in May). Just a case of when the dates fall, and how many.   Can't remember if I mentioned at the time, though probably not a major secret given that they were seen leaving Abbey Road on the same day - Liam/Squire album two in 2028.    Dunno where that leaves Oasis beyond 2027, though Andy is active with Ride in early 2027, so maybe it will just run alongside Oasis like that, if they carry on.

    • Dismantling that exciting young attacking team Sir Bobby had built, driving out all our creative players, and replacing them with a bunch of old crocks and has-beens ruined us. I think he's as much responsible for our first relegation as Kinnear.    And yeah this. It wasn't exhilirating football under Rafa, but he understood the club and city and gave us hope again. Him and Hughton were the sparks of hope under Ashley (+1 of Pardew's years, lets ignore the rest of them).
