Volcanic Ash

What if the volcanic ash situation in Iceland was due to get really bad around the time of Glastonbury; would it be enough for the festival to cancel? Or would it still run but with an emergency back up of artists from the UK or Europe? One would assume that the organisers have thought of this already?

I think it'd make for an awsome festival, save bands getting in th way of whatever else I want to do :-P

We live just round the corner and Mr Eavis has already been onto Mr Slingbax ( who plays the spoons and washboard rather well) to check that he's around should there be a hash crisis

The volcanic ash is only effecting certain areas at a time. Meaning that you can still fly places, but you may have to take an extra long route to get here. And then getting to the UK isn't too bad from Europe as you can get a boat. If the bands really want to get here they will find a way.

I think the only major problem would be with U2. Dizzee Rascal headlining with someone like Florence and the Machine moved on to the Pyramid into the sunset slot is how I'd play it.

I have my brother and sister coming over from Ireland too, I hope the ash does not cause them problems, its their first Glastonbury and I am well excited that I dare not even think of how they would get over if flights were stopped!!!

i'm also on the first wed flight from belfast and am getting more than a little worried.

last time i did glasto by sea/land was 1999 and it took about 22 hours.
