2nd efestivals Glasto World Cup discussion thread

I mentioned this in the other thread a few days back, and I realise it's probably too late now, but are we sure we want to use JustGiving? Virgin Money Giving charges less and more of the donation goes to the charity. I know I'm biased as I work for VMG but the facts speak for themselves:

Ok, so I'm not sure what 'almost £12' is, but if it's, say, £11.90 (and I'm being generous there) then for the £270 that has been donated so far, WaterAid get about £320. Through VMG it would be £340. That £20 difference is easily enough to give one more person safe, clean water for life. So if we raise another £3000 this year, that difference could end up being over £200.

VMG still has all the bells and whistles like JG - totaliser pages, donation messages, app for FaceBook to spread the word, widgets for blogs and the like.

So is there any chance we can swap to VMG before we raise much more? I'll still donate either way of course and I'll also be standing on the sidelines cheering but it would be cool if we could help WaterAid just a little bit more.

I'm hurt I'm not among the physios

Got a magic sponge ready and everything. My unused costume from last year (bloody traffic) is needing an airing. If you don't want me I won't bring my bone-saw.

(donation on its way  )

I've just noticed that whiteash was in the ROW squad twice. So that means Keev you are now in the full ROW squad :P

I'm sure the same thing will happen when Capello is compiling his squad for the World Cup.

"Emile? Hi, it's Fabio here. Sorry about the late notice, but would you be able to fly out to South Africa for a week or so? I've just noticed I put Wayne's name down twice - I was sort of hoping he'd play centre half as well as upfront, because he'd be a shitload better than that cheating clown John Terry. But FIFA rules stipulate that you can't play the same player twice in the same game at the same time. Nazis. Well - fancy it?"

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
