I presumed that if Ray Davies was playing the Acoustic he'd be headliner. But I don't know for sure that he's even playing the Acoustic, only that he's playing on the Sunday.

from what I've been told it doesn't sound like he'll be there either (tho in a less certain way than I am about the Pyramid).

From what I was told it seems most likely that he's playing the Acoustic Tent, but I can't be sure that's right.

its very wierd. i dont doubt you at all that he's playing.

but if he's not on the pyramid/jazz then in my mind, there isnt a slot big enough for him anywhere else where he isnt headling.

I pretty much agree with that - but of course how correct that turns out being is dependent on what other acts there are on other stages at the same time that he plays.

Because......

if the other rumours are true there will be big splits in the crowd sunday

... this is PRECISELY how they try to do things - the very point of the bookings around the various stages is to ensure that the crowd IS split. They can't risk pretty much everyone all trying to be at the same stage at the same time, for the obvious safety issues it would cause.

That makes sense I suppose.

Well I hope the Orbital/Stevie clash is enough for them then so Ray isn't on last whatever stage he's playing at.

I saw him on the main stage at Glstonbury in '82 and he was very well received. Part of his set was shown on tv - even better that year was Randy California (out of Spirit young 'uns) playing at his psychedelic best.

obviously Danbailey80 misread your post, but i would like to hear you expand on why u think what you state, since you normally espouse wise suggestions.

are you saying that they're perfectly suited for the acoustic tent as they (ray and jackson) wouldn't necessarily draw a massive crowd just by themselves at an open air stage? or are u saying that the acoustic tent won't be rammed down the hill if these two were back--to-back on sunday night? if it's the first one i agree with you, but not the second. i think the idea of Ray Davies in the penultimate slot on pyramid (as somone suggested on here i think ... if the stellas haven't hit me already) is far-fetched...

i just thought (or hoped) that if ME is really a massive fan of Jackson browne, and if he hasn't played since '82, that he'd put him in a slot where he'd get to see him (like he did with Fogerty) which i guess he could do if he intends on missing Stevie Wonder.

Yeah, pretty much I agree with you. I'm saying that they're not big enough for late Pyramid slots really, I'd say that they're probably the sorts of acts who would draw a big crowd at a tent (say the acoustic), and create a great atmosphere, but I don't really see them as anything larger than mid afternoon Pyramid acts. Personally, i think, particularly with Jackson Brown, it needs an more intimate atmosphere, and he'd just get lost in the Pyramid field, whereas he good be devastatingly good on a smaller stage.

I think we're all guilty of thinking our favourite acts will be more popular than they really are, especially at Glastonbury when a) there's loads going on and :P quite a few people just park themselves in front of the Pyramid all day, regardless of who's on (especially on the Sunday). If you put Ray Davies and Jackson Browne in the acoustic tent, yes, you'll get a lot of people, but not a *ridiculous* number.

From the eFestivals article, Michael Eavis said:

"Jackson Browne is a real hero of mine from all those Eagles songs he wrote. Jackson wrote all the best ones of his songs I reckon. "

Did he really say that? Can't say I have a huge amount of respect for Eavis if he did.

1) He didn't write that many with The Eagles. He co-wrote 3 or 4, and only wrote 1 on his own I think.

2) The reason Jackson is his hero is because of The Eagles?! Whaddadick! Jackson Browne > The Eagles in every respect.

3) The last sentence makes no sense... Of course he wrote the best ones of his songs... because... HE wrote them....?
