Silent Disco Questions

just remembered the one at Reading 08 on the sunday night one of the dj's put the conga song on and everyone was doing the conga round the place (including myself, and I had the other channel on which made it bizzare) in their silent disco there was a long drop in the silent disco complex and the conga line went other the step up balcony type thing for the long drop. must have been odd for the people doing their business in the long drop.

also earlier in the night i got caught singing along with the headphones on in said long drop and walked out to cheers of those without headphones on who had heard me.

I miss real parties on real sounsystems. The silent discos are no match but seem to take away any chance of fighting to get some sort of licensing allowed. I guess it's better than nothing but I'd rather find a market stall playing tunes out!

I have never participated in a silent disco-just watched from the outside because it was packed. It seems very strange watching people dancing when it's silent! I would probably do it for a laugh

The Dutch DJ was the mutts nuts :P It wasn't until during his set on the Thurs night last year that Michael Jackson's death was 'confirmed' to me. Had heard folk going on about it that night but thought it was just a rumour someone had started. Then the Dutch DJ dedicated the next tune to the recently departed MJ and 'BANG!' it suddenly became real :P Really surreal feeling.

Also, I think at one point on the Sunday night he had about 90% of the tent dancing to his mixes :P

The silent disco at dance village is in Dance East (or was last year). There are toilets in that one, too - they are over at the back right as you face in from the entrance, by the crew/backstage entrance. They are four portaloos usually used for crew at Dance East backstage but they move some barriers around in the evenings so that people in the Dance East tent can use them.

As an alternative to silent disco Joe Bannana's silent rave (williams field by the big screen) is a little stall area - Its a outdoor 'silent disco' if you will - No 80's rock, simply rave music;

We tried it and found it a laugh - you do have to leave a £10 deposit for this one, but as its outdoor

you can pop down the bar/toilets etc , or wander around and still listen (although you do get some stares as you dance through the market area!)

Silent disco in park best done on Thursday - Lets hope they open Wednesday this year?

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
