!POSSIBLE TICKET SCAM!

Hi everyone

This is my first post on here and sadly it's not a nice one.

I paid the balance for my ticket back on the 24th of feb, i got an order confirmation from SEE and the money left my account.

Today (about 30 mins ago) I got this:

Dear Customer,

We note that you failed to pay off your Glastonbury deposit by the deadline

of midnight on the 28th of February.

We're trying to refund the monies back to your card (£40 per deposit),

however we're having difficulty doing this. This could be because the card

you used when you made the booking has expired or is no longer valid.

Could you please contact us on 0844 412 4626 so we can arrange the refund

back to another card.

Best regards

Glastonbury Festivals

It came from this address: Glastonbury Registration <[email protected]>

And weirdly had this in the "to:" line: Glastonbury Registration <[email protected]>

So I called the number - which is genuinely the Glasto tickets number it appears here:http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/contact-us/tickets/ and (eventually) I got through to someone at SEE.

I gave the guy from see my confirmation number (and nothing else!) and he confirmed that i'd paid, and there is no problem with my order whatsoever. They no nothing about this and said that the email is not from them. I can't imagine what kind of scam this is, if they're putting the ACTUAL ticket line number in the email?? I guess maybe they're looking for an email response and then try to get card details..?

Either way I thought I ought to put it out there. I may investigate further. If i get anywhere I'll post here.

Has anyone else had this happen??

My guess is that See sent you the email by mistake. If it's a scam it's a bit silly putting the real number of See in the email, also I've had several emails with "[email protected]" in the to: line that are from See, so that is a genuine address.

With large companies never assume that the person who answers the phone has the slightest clue of what emails have been sent out. In fact with See it's best never to assume anything at all.

YEs, all very strange, I tried replying to the email and it bounced. It was definitely addressed from @glastonbury.co.uk see screen shot below.

The See ticket guy I spoke to had no Idea about it, he also said that any correspondence from them would come referenced see tickets...

I tend to think it probably was an error, but all very strange, particularly the glastonbury.co.uk domain...

I guess it's just testament to the hoops we go through every year to get these tickets secured that my paranoia about something f***ing up is so close to the surface!

Stay vigilant!

Just a small note,

It is possible to get emails that show up as coming from an address you might know and trust, when in fact they haven't come from that address at all.

There is bulk email software out there that allows you to specify where the email comes from for replying purposes, so that email could have been plucked out of the air - I have several emails for viagra/rolex watches/porn in my junk folder that were apparently sent to me by myself...

Well, as others have already said, absolutely any text field in any email is a piece of p!$$ to forge as are several other things. The only way to make any sensible guess concerning it's authenticity or otherwise is to examine the message headers in detail to ensure that IPs, server names and message routing etc. all stacks up exactly as it should do. It's still possible for a message to appear authentic even so but not be ... although it's pretty d@mn difficult to get absolutely everything exactly as it should be unless it's genuine.

Would need to see a copy of the full message headers to check them out properly so post a copy of them or PM them to me if you like - but make bl**dy sure that you remove or xxxxx all instances of your personal email address from them first unless you really want several bucket loads of spam per day coming your way starting from very soon after posting of course !

all that matters is that you have a ticket... all this gives you is the excuse to phone see and just double check you have a ticket and your defiantely going... this has just hilighted the problem of there are some sneaky little people who will try anything to con people out of money

Why, because they use the word monies?? How bizarre.

The email does sound like a mistake.

Do you know of anyone that hasn't paid off the balance or cancelled their deposit by now? If so, they may be able to shed some light on whether or not they've had the same or a similar message.

Could someone on the boards clear that up??

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
