There are x hundred toilets on site. Some are bound to be hideous. The majority are absolutely fine. Nothing like having a dump in the open air.

I've never been before, looking forward to my first time in June - and am REALLY pleased to read this!! This is the one thing I'm really worried about - heard such horror stories in previous years... presumably the situation is still worse for girls than boys?

If it's a real issue, there are proper flushing toilets on site which are a similar standard to ones you find in pubs i.e. not as comfortable as ones at home, but a hell of a lot nicer than a Turdis/Long Drop.

The toilets really don't bother me - just get in, do the business and get out. You're not supposed to be hanging around in them!

I'm adding another vote for mud. I've done plenty of festivals, only one Glastonbury but I know the nice sunny festivals have been much easier to enjoy than the wet, muddy ones. There's so much to see at Glasto and I know I missed out on stuff in 2007 because I was just too tired after traipsing through the stickiness.

The other worst thing is the way my hair will feel after nearly a week of being unwashed. Think I might have to investigate the showers this year...

Yes - us blokes do have it easier - there are loads of urinals all over the place.

I'm not saying for one moment that there aren't appallingly filthy toilets, but you have to be VERY unlucky to encounter one, and so desperate for any toilet that you can't look a few feet either side to use a cleaner one.

We all have to go, we all have to use them, and it's really not an issue. Most people who haven't experienced Glastonbury think of mud and horrible toilets. There's nowt you can do if it's muddy, but there will always be toilets that are clean and more than useable.

People saying 'the toilets are the one thing I'm dreading' are just drama queens who are too scared to write 'I miss my hair straighteners'.

By far the worst thing for me is when it's over. Be that me starting to feel sad at tea time on the Sunday that it's nearly over or feeling properly low when I get back home that it's all done for another year. It's even worse when you have to go straight back to a busy time at work, which is what happened to me for the last two years.

Knowing the next year is a fallow year makes this feeling even worse.

I'm also not a huge fan of putting up tents but it does seem to get quicker every year.

In terms of the other things that people have brought up:

Hot tents: I'm odd but actually enjoy waking up to a warm tent. Firstly it generally means the weather's good and secondly I love opening the door, sticking my head out to feel the cool breeze and then going back to sleep

Toilets: They're far better than at any other festival I've been to. There's lots around and they're generally well looked after. I personally use the flushing toilets up by the farm - always worth the wait (though often there's no queue).

Mud/weather: Certainly true that I'd prefer it to be sunny. I particularly dislike standing watching a band in the rain. That said I always feel that after enjoying 2004 and 2005 rain and mud will never stop me from havign a good time at Glasto

Carrying stuff: Fairly annoying but a few suggestions. Carry it from the car in a couple of trips (alas not possible if you're on public transport). Take the tents and a BBQ in the first wave. Leave someone to rustle up soem lunch while the rest of you get the remainder. You can always camp closer to where you enter the site too. It's not very helpful to say 'take less' but certainly think about the fact that you need to carry everything you take and whether you'll really need it

I'm already feeling very excited about this year's Glasto and know that these slight negatives are nothing compared to how much fun the entire experience is. If you're going for the first time this year then you really are very lucky.

Shit smeared toilet walls, through someones exploding diohrea - bleurgh

and the walk back to hitchin after being out partying all day, its like the final push to make it up that hill, i alqays come back from Glasto lighter than when i went.

Nothing wrong with the odd gazebo, we had one last year between 12 of us, took up the same space as one tent, anyone around was welcome to get away from the rain/sun under it. The tape is stupid though yeah.
