Classical cross-over

Crossover can be fun. Glastonbury Town Band opening Glasto, Hayseed Dixie doing heavy metal meets hillbilly.

Saw a nice example last year when the Birmingham Music Conservatoire Folk Orchestra played at the Trowbridge Festival. Young, classically trained musicians, performing folk music arranged for a traditional symphony orchestra.

I also hugely enjoyed Ade Edmundson and the Bad Shepherds doing their folk/punk crossover.

John Williams did it brilliantly with Sky.

We've also got quite a few other classically trained musicians who play rock. Lucy Shaw, who plays classical double bass, ripping it up with Glen Tilbrooke and the Fluffers.

Even more reason for people to remain seated in their camping chairs in epic numbers in the Pyramid Field :P

been thinking recently with the massive surge in popularity & content of the classical cross-over genre that it would be nice to get some of it in at glastonbury.

Surely i'm not alone?
