Squeeze...

Firstly, apologies if this has been said!

Chris Difford was on my local radio station this morning and he said, "we're doing festivals this summer, including Glastonbury!"

He also said he was fairly sure it would basically be a 'hits' tour with them trying any new stuff on their winter tour.

That is all.

From what I understand, Difford & Tillbrook have always stayed pals but only in the last few years toured as Squeeze again. Not sure if its the rest of the original line up but I'm pretty sure Jools Holland isn't involved, think they had a fall out.

Actually Chris has addmitted to causing some huge issues with his drinking. He admits that he left Glenn literally on the tarmac to fly off and do a tour without him. So, the first two times I saw them (Domino tour) it was only Glenn along with Chris Holland (Jools brother), Ash Soan (from Del Amitri) and a base player named Hilaire.

At that point Glenn packed in the band and did a solo album. Then they were called upon by an MTV show called Bands Reunited and Chris was ultimately the only one who showed up to actually talk or play.

But, sometime after that he and Glenn worked on a book together and patched things up a bit. It's said that Chris appoligised for some past transgressions related to drinking. And then suddenly a few years ago they played an acoustic gig that sort of broke the ice for them to work together again.

Chris and Glenn both have solo careers at this point that they work around to play some tours as Squeeze. The last line up (and I assume current one) is Chris, Glenn, John Bently (who rejoined them last tour after 20 or so years away.) and two of Glenn's band the Fluffers (Stephen Large and Simon Hanson).

I saw them with this line up about two years ago (I think it was...) multiple times here and they were spot on.

Jools and Gilson are long gone and unlikely to reunite with Squeeze unless it's a one off....Jools is far into his own thing now and Gilson seems to stick with Jools. That said, I've seen Chris guest with Jools a couple times that I've been in London and happened to catch a show.

(whew, I guess I'm a trove of obscure Squeeze info today...lol)

Guess you can say I'm a fan of the band....hope I didn't bore you with all that...:P

it would be nice to have Squeeze one afternoon on the Pyramid (sunday), and then Jools Holland and his orchestra doing their usual sat afternoon slot on another day. Jools is such a regular that it seems like it would be obvious to have him for the 40th. He does have a date booked for July 3 already. granted he also had those forest concerts booked this yr around june but didnt do glasto.

Seen Glenn Tilbrook 4 times at Glastonbury - either solo or with the Fluffers and he has been absolutely fabulous every single time. Would love to see Squeeze reunited, to hear the songs as they ought to be.

This performance in particular was brilliant:

Please someone tell me they are not on the line-up because Leftfield hasn't been announced yet, not because they've mysteriously been axed. I was SO excited about seeing them; my little heart will break if they don't play.

Although if they're headlining Friday night, my brain might break as it tries to negotiate the insane clashfest.

    • The first half of that game was cracking but then I fell asleep at half time. Maybe that's just the momentum of things.

    • A win is a win but it was a very poor game with only 4 shots on target in the whole game. Scotland obviously handed a massive bonus with Brazil and Morocco drawing but I don't think either of them will be too worried.
