As Strudders said, Spandau will play the Pyramid on Sunday afternoon. Theyve four or five total classics and Hadley can still belt them out.

"True" is very Glasto Neil.

I didn't say anything about whether they were 'Glasto' or not. I said they're not a Jazzworld band.

But anyway, given that they're managed by John Giddins, an appearance by them at IoW is much more likely, and it's something they've been rumoured for for a week already (based on a little info, tho not certain info).

I saw them last week in Birmingham and they were brilliant. Shame the crowd was too old - and possibly slightly bemused to be at a gig. Everyone sat down... I didn't and danced like an idiot - and then some miserable cow behind me told me to sit down! I think not!

They played for 2 1/2 hours, every song was an absolute classic and I had a damned good singalong! I can only imagine how fab they'd be in a Sunday afternoon singsong at the Pyramid.

Hadleys voice is still fantastic and Steve Norman hasn't half aged well!

"Jazzworld" is more a state of mind than booking policy.

You're completely incorrect.

The stranger stuff (stuff that has you thinking "why is this band on that stage?") that appears on that stage is normally stuff that hasn't been booked by that stage's booker - for example, Joan Armatrading ended up on that stage a couple of years ago due to Michael and not due to Jazzworld. Similar applied when Orbital headlined there in (I think it was) '99, because they wanted to play an outdoor stage and the plan when they were booked was for the Other Stage to be a tented stage.

Anyhow, if SB were to play I couldn't see them being anywhere but the Pyramid.

Probably been old enough to have endured them first time round and went for the nostalga, only to quickly realise they were right all along and SB along with all the other 'new romantic' $hite of the 80's were complete bollox the first time round.

So basically if a band wants to headline a stage at Glastonbury and Michael agrees then the booking policy of the JW goes out the window?

Although I agree that there is a policy on the stage that is rarely overruled, if SB wanted to boast that they "headlined" Glastonbury they would be accomodated on the JW.

It's the drip tray for this kind of booking - Black Eyed Peas last year for example would be a similar instance. Not big enough to headline the Pyramid or au-courant enough to headline the Other - but an ego too big to go to one of the smaller stages/tents.

While the stages have their own bookers, Michael also books a few bands, which he then has to find somewhere for them to play - this is what happened with Joan Armatrading.

You can't use BEP's an an example - they're a band that Jazzworld have booked in the past. I don't know if they were a Jazzworld booking or not for last year, but suspect that they were.

I'm including myself as part of the aged crowd... and yes, they were there purely as a nostalgia act which they themselves said on stage from the outset. I'm fully aware that the are pumping up their pensions for their later years, but when all is said and done, it was a fun night out. Nothing more.

I used to like that New Romantic Shite of the 80's but later evolved and would be oh so happy if some of the mighty 90's indie band would reform to grace the Pyramid stage.

I'm trying hard not be negative but I was a teenager at certain points of the 80's and still cringe when I hear any of the new romantics. Possibly the worst musical times for me

I wasnt a teenager until the90's but the New Romantic movement was vilified then too.

However I think they would surprise a lot of people.

How do you think a pure pop act are worthy Jazzworld headliners? I've noticed with your posts that you seem to think any band that isn't a standard Reading/Leeds band is, in your eyes, a Jazzworld band.

Also, I see Jazzworld as effectively the largest stage for Dance music and that sort of music. Wouldn't you say Spandau Ballet have a bit of Dance in them, or what was considered Dance music in the '80s?

Just for the record, I can't fit them in onto the Pyramid or Other Stages in my prediction, so where do you think would be the next most appropriate place for them?

What do you define as Dance music then? Wiki has them down as Synthpop and New Wave, both very Dancey types of music.
