Anyone know of any comfy or at least fairly comfy wellies as am just worried incase of a mudbath. I had cheap wellies last year and god my feet hurt.

Trainers tend to end up left in the car, unless it's an absolute baking one! We can hope....

i honestly think wellies are the best way at glasto. my first two years i wore hiking boots and the mud always ended up going over the top and inside the boots, making my feet soaking wet (admittedly these were two complete washout years). wet feet = misery. i know gaiters go some way towards preventing this but i've never got on with them.

anyway after that i switched to wellies and have never looked back. it's true they can rub a bit around your legs but the solution to this is to get yourself a pair of welly socks (thick ones that come up to your knees). and make sure you don't buy the cheapest wellies either, because the fit is important...

walking boots and if it gets bad stick some gators on as well. I cannot stand wellies and think boots and gators are just as effective.

My own preference is wellies because you KNOW they won't leak and my feet like them.

Hunters are the main brand of posh wellies, so if you are looking for a decent pair go for those, think they are about 30 quid though.

This thread has me really rethinking my original plans.

I've never owned or worn a Wellington, I live in California and we rarely get lengthy periods of rain. I had just figured that I'd buy some when I got there and wear my normal walking shoes the rest of the time (Lightweight Rockports, don't know if they have them in the UK).

I'm starting to think I may not be comfortable in a Wellington based on the comments here. I have very large calfs, legs and feet, and the chafing issues mentioned sound like a real possibility.

Thinking I may try a GorTex boot just past ankle height (like some of the examples posted).

I'd love to hear any other comments regarding Wellington "issues". I'm also curious is just wearing a regular height shoe is workable, or if I really need to invest in the taller (ankle height) boots makes the most sense?

Personally I just would not contemplate wearing wellies I know walking boots can be quite expensive but they are waterproof and comfortable.

I got a comfy pair of wellies this year for festivals and they did the trick. My feet stayed dry and I never had any problems with them. I realsie I'll be doing alot more walking at Glastonbury but I recon i'll stick to wellies.

I wore walkin boots last year without gaiters and within minutes of stepping out of the tent the laces were clarted. If it's dry then trainys all the way for me, if it's only a bit wet then hikin boots, and for the mud I've just invested in a £60 pair of muck boots which I'm assured are like wearin carpet slippers.

Normally to festivals I take my Muckboots and trainers. Next year I'm going light and only taking the good old Adidas Sambas! 1.it's going to be a heatwave(my dad said so) and 2.if it rains I don't give a f*ck!

They'll work fine. I have a similar pair of boots (but by Quechua, which do the job).

Only problem was I wore them lots on camping trips & hiking leading up to the festival season. Worked great on all the trips, but I totally forgot to treat the boots and had to work in some tall wet grass at Reading. That was a miserable evening. So if you wear the boots a lot leading up to the festival, TREAT THEM!!!! If you're not going to wear them much before Glasto they'll do fine.

I have a nice, leather, Caterpillar pair and they have done me well over the last few years. I always take Wellies aswell. The boots are for when there is only slight mud.
