what about toon town from who framed rodger rabbit with its 50's vibe you could have betty boops burlesque bar , those duelling pianos and everybody dressed as toons

keep the politicval thinking storyline with judge doom wandering about

soviet dan dare would be cool too but do lioke the idea of somethiong lighter to contrast to trash city and arcadia

sorry if this topic is else where

but i thought it would be fun to discuss a few suggestions of what they should put there

maybe a recreation of a victorian freak show must include boxing kangeroos (i think they are due a revival) and someone dressed as papa lazoo from league of gentlemen.

one of those weird victorion futuristic jules verne style worlds taking inspiration from that smashing pumkins video, hordes of japanese animations (i.e steam boy / laputa) and that film with tesla played by bowie. all weird plyons and stream powered contraptions where the modern goes on alongside the antebelliam a remiamging of the present world based on the further developemnt of defumnct victorian technology

sorry starting to prattle any other ideas

just a pit i can't spell the word - it does produces its own curious imagery normally for me of wooden rocking chairs on porches with cob webs in the cornor but also of tinted bronze of valvue and steam and wheels turning and the most amazing taches and sideburns known to man

don't forget the boxing kangeroos they're going to be big next year. and a piano with the cartidge paper with holes that makes it play definatly need one of them . if its a burton screen play doesn't that mean that johnny depp will have to be there ?

with this being 40th anniversary i wouldn't be surprised to see shangri-la taking the lead on celebrating.....with the natural walk through from one end to the other lending itself to a journey through 4 decades....70's, 80's, 90's, 00's.....moving from psychedelia via prog rock into punk, acid house, hip hop, rave scene, britpop etc.....70's would be up at fence end so that the one way system out of Trash would encourage you to enter there...then move through and ultimately end up in a dystopian image of the future in Arcadia....

could be fun...

Wow, so many ideas, how great that its got y'all fired up!

Little tip... though twisted victoriana /burlesque / retro theming has been done to death so the shangri-la art departments less likely to come around to that way of thinking.... roll on the future.....

and the blade runner dysfunctional future thing hasn't been done many times before? hmm

what about a clear lined baccofoil covered 60's future possiable inspired by cheapo 60's scifi where every alien planet looked like a disused quarry with a top notch bbc radiophonic workshop theme
